Advice needed on Complimentary Purchase Cover

Guys looking to claim on my complimentary purchase cover through bank issued credit card for my lost mac book pro on train. Previously I was robbed and my brand new iPhone and my watch was stolen but this time its a different story but I think its still covered. well my question is wether or not 2 different banks keeps the record of my previous claim on the same book, can other banks know what I have claimed before from other bank or not. I would like to know this before hand because I might end up paying more excess then than the price of my mac book.

Without knowing which exact Credit Card or Bank I'd only be guessing.

As a general rule most policies will state:
"The cardholder must take all reasonable care to protect and maintain the goods insured under this Policy and protect them against loss, damage or theft"

So establishing the exact circumstances of loss will be important as will filing a Police Report to try to recover the Macbook Pro. If you bought from an Apple Store maybe they will have E-mail'd you a Purchase Document with a Serial Number? Maybe there is CCTV from Sydney(?) Trains… try filing a Lost Property Report too (if this applies) @ http://www.sydneytrains.info/contact_us/

Even if you used different Bank Credit Cards from the first occasion to this one, you may find that the ultimate Insurer is the same, possibly Zurich General? (Generally Banks don't carry the cover themselves).

Ultimately you won't get anywhere if you non-disclose the previous claim, it will only look dodgy.

Do you have any other Insurances that might cover your loss?

    • No I don't have other insurance. By the way its different bank so different insurance company. I have all that proof of purchase just worried that if I have to disclose my previous claim or not or they would know my previous claim anyways.

      • When you say "different bank, so different insurance company" are you aware that Zurich General are the insurer for:

Aussie, ANZ, Bank of Melbourne, Bank of Queensland, BankSA, Bankwest, Citibank, Commonwealth Bank, Diners Club, Heritage Bank, HSBC, People's Choice, St. George, Suncorp Bank, Virgin Money, Westpac and
        Card Services Card Insurance.

Why do you think you are insured for "lost mac book pro on train?"

        • I am with nab and insured with chubb.

I paid on my credit card which has complimentary purchase cover. Which lets me claim if its with 3 months fron the date of purchase

        • So,

          8) The NAB cardholder must take all reasonable care to protect and maintain the goods insured under the NAB Purchase Protection Insurance Plan against theft to, or loss or damage.

          Exclusions
We are not liable for any claims resulting from:
          12) Items left unattended in a public place, or in an unlocked motor vehicle, or in an unattended motor vehicle overnight.

(‘Public place’ includes but is not limited to shops, airports, train stations, bus stations, streets, hotel foyers and grounds, restaurants, beaches, public toilets, and any
other place to which the public has access).

(‘Unattended’ means were your possessions are in a position where they can be taken without
you or your travel companion knowing or being able to prevent them from being unlawfully taken).

  • would call up the credit card department and ask for the specific credit insurance information booklet.
I would be always honest with insurance. 1. Insurance Act 2. myself. Not worth a thousand bucks to scar for life.
If all is within right, I know I would lose sleep.
