Anyone know of some good Xperia Z1 cases and screen protectors? Ordered one for a family member.

EBay is your friend.

Screen protector wise: I always go for tempered glass as this offers protection from impacts and it feels like you're using the glass screen (without the plasticy screen protectors)
Also less fingerprints and easier to clean.

Case wise, check to see if any big names offer cases and then check Chinese ones is: Nilkhin.
You can get a generic wallet style case from eBay
