Hey
I graduated from Macquarie University in 2014 with bachelor of commerce with major in economics and international business. I was a bit slack with applying for internships and was under the mindset to just focus on finishing degree then worry about degree related job after.
I attended the World Cup in Brazil, for about over 2 months from early June to July. I was worried that i wouldn't have enough money for Brazil, so just worked pretty much full time at (woolies) job i have.
After coming back from holidays and pretty much missing most graduate program dates for 2015, I'm under the impression that i should tried to find a summer internship or any business associated job in a white collar environment( starting from asap…). I feel that if i apply for graduate jobs in 2015( for 2016)that i will be competing against people with internships, and more related business experience than me.
Live in NSW, Australia
Anyone recommend internships programs( that i can apply for asap) or jobs that require very minimal experience. I just want to have some sort of business environment experience( get my foot in the door so to speak) for when i apply next year for graduate programs.
Vague jobs/ positions i'm interested in:
- banks
- insurance companies
- Retail( worked at woolies for 7 years) and missed the graduate program for 2015 start.
- business analyst jobs
- Multinational corporations with finance/business/ economics/retail positions available
*STill give ideas/links even though they don't directly tie in with the above

You might want to look into customer service or retail sales first — should be plenty on Seek and Spotjobs. Go to the careerHub website hosted by Macquarie uni and work for them. Work as graduate assistant or a student service officer.
If you want to be a CSP or consultant you're going to need very good soft skills (communication), ability to make conversation, negotiate with people, serve customers and sell stuff. Most white collar workers will usually have a mixture of these abilities and would have had some experience in either retail customer service or sales. As a graduate you don't possess much technical skill but you can level up your soft skills through almost any kind of work that involves customers.
Hopefully you have actually learned something from Woolies and it has taught you something about customer service.
