  • Wow, that's quite a saving. Thanks rep for posting. Unfortunately I already stocked up in July.

    • Aha! Well tell some friends - they'll probably love you for it. Jack Hawks

  • Has been a while since i looked for well good price contact lenses, but I remember clearlycontacts.com.au was easily the best price/service.

Has this changed? They've got $25 off your first order (over $99).

I guess buying locally has it's benefits, but once you have your script it should be pretty easy. clearlycontacts has free ship returns etc

    • +1

clearlycontacts.com.au no longer has a provider number where you can claim from your health fund (if you have private health insurance). At least that was the case the last time I looked.

    • +6

I'd like to think we have the best offering for service and aftercare. With our buying power we have everyday low prices like other pureplayers, however we also have a network of 300 stores that are able to deliver the aftercare every contact lens wearer needs.
$50 Off $100 spend is a great offer to give us a go.

      All the best

      • had a quick check of a few products, bloody hard with all the variations and box qtys. but looks like this code does make it a pretty good deal.

        good work rep

Spec saver's customer service was brilliant the last time they dealt with my issue. Happily recommend them to others because of this.

    • +1

I've been happy with their service too. Have bought contact lenses from them twice, no issues.

      • My local store staff all know me by name :-)

  • Thanks a plus for offer and top after care provided by spec savers.
    got 4 boxes.

  • +2

Same Prices as Clearly with the Discount but Specsavers can Claim on HeathFund and Clearly you cannot!

  • +3

Bought from Specsavers during the last deal. Cannot fault them on product or service. Would definitely buy again if I didn't already have like a year's supply.

  • Biofinity toric is not listed =(

    • easyvision Opteyes Toric is exactly the same as Biofinity Toric (in fact last time I bought them they had just stuck the easyvision sticker over the Biofinity label on the box).

      • oh really?! Will check them out. Thanks :)

  • Is click and collect possible?

    • Hi BrodPete, It's an FAQ. However at this point in time we can't do click and collect. All the best Jack Hawks

  • Great deal thanks!

  • BTW Jack, did u really go fishing? In this weather?!

    • I'd go fishing in any weather - J

  • Hi rep, can you let us know what the exp date is roughly? I am stocking up for my wife but she only uses these a few days a week.

    • I believe there is a fairly generous expiry date on contact lenses. Should be on the box as it varies. Let me know how you go. Contact Lenses last at least 1 year… so you'll be safe.
      All the best

    • The Acuvue Oasys lenses I got from specsavers in July had 2018 expiry.

  • +2

    Should have gone to specsavers

    • D'oh. Hopefully you did.

  • I can't see where you put the code, pun intended

  • Just placed my order! Awesome deal.

    Cheers Jack!

  • From T & C

Offer is valid until the 21st of August 2014.

So it's more than 24 hours…? I've just updated the start/expiry dates on the deal. Jack - please clarify? Thanks.

    • Hi moocher - I'll get that corrected. I can confirm it is only valid for today - 20th August! Thanks for spotting that. KRgds Jack Hawks

      • Thanks, I've updated the expiry date above now.

  • Hi rep. I currently wear glasses and I was be a first time contacts user. What would you suggest in terms of how it all works. So I replace the lenses daily with new ones etc? Also how is the safety side of them. Cheers.

    • +1

If you are being serious, visit your optometrist.
It's likely your contact lens prescription is different to your glasses, they can recommend the best type of contacts for you and show you how to take care of them.
… then go online and order them much cheaper than they'll sell them at the shop - even better if you visit SpecSavers because they have no issue with you saying you'll order them from their website.

    • Definitely see your optometrist first. You don't want to get the wrong contacts. I didn't know i had astigmatism and had to use special contacts.

    • Your glasses prescription is not the same as your contact prescription, as contacts lie on the surface of the eye but glasses are a good 15-20mm away. Also contacts have different curvatures and diameters - you want them to fit nicely like a beanie on a head rather than a cup on a boob.

    • always be properly fitted/trained by an eye specialist who can provide free trial lenses :)

    • Hi Moots

I'll second what Wolfy has said. We offer a FREE trial and consultation for first time contact lens wearers. Find your nearest store here: http://www.specsavers.com.au/stores

  • Hi rep, do you know when specsavers will have the free UV tint on glasses bought in store?

    • Hi chk, without divulging too much it is a pretty common offer around summer for all optometrists, so come spring time expect there to be some really good deals on prescription sunglasses at Specsavers. That's all I'm saying! Jack Hawks.

  • +1

Hi Rep. I bought a year's supply last year online but my prescription has gone up and I was wondering if I can swap the unopened boxes ? I am also going to take advantage of this offer to further stock up. Thanks!!

    • Hi heremo, that's a tricky one. Suggest you call our helpline to see what they can do for you. It wouldn't be common practice to do this kind of thing, but it wouldn't hurt asking. Call 1800 074 171 and explain in full what you'd like to do. Krgds Jack Hawks

  • +1

Damn,i just stocked up with clearly contacts!
I guess I could always grab some more, with the discount it makes them pretty competitive. :)

  • Hi .. Great deal - I went all way through to payment & could not find the box to input the code to save money?
    Also it's $50 back for every $100 spent ?
    Cheers

    • Hi pinkscarf - the field to enter your code is on the second screen after entering your prescription. I can confirm however it is a one use only code ie $50 off once no matter how much you spend in the transaction. Jack Hawks

  • 6 months (4 boxes of 3) of Air Optix Night & Day at Specssavers comes to $100 + $10 shipping = $110 with this code.
6 months (2 boxes of 6) of the same lenses at Clearlycontacts comes to $159.98 + $6.95 shipping = $166.93.

    No brainer! Thanks Rep!

    • +1

ClearlyContacts will not price match either - not because it's a special deal, but because SpecSavers have local/physical shops - stupid excuse.

However the ClearlyContacts website, order and payment systems and re-order process is much better than SpecSavers.

    • +1

quicklens is $55 for 1 box of 6, $10 shipping. can NOT claim for health fund though.

      • After I checked my emails, I discovered this is where I usually order from (and the same lenses). Definitely recommended if you don't claim on health insurance.

    • You sure about that one?
As I mentioned above, I just ordered 2 boxes of air optics aqua n&d and they were only $52 per box, and the special was only $3 off so usual price is $55.

EDIT - scratch that, i just checked my emails and i realise I place my orders through quicklens. :)
Not sure where I got clearly contacts from.

Dan1985, if they are your usual contacts, after this deal I recommend you try quicklens, usual price for a box of 6 is $55.05 normal price.

  • +1

thanks op, was running low on contacts, perfect timing.

  • Depends on what you order. Including shipping, it's $164 on Specsavers and $155 on Clearly Contacts for me. Plus I get a further 9% cashback from starthere with Clearly Contacts.

  • Is this available now? Also can you claim $50 from health fund?

    • This is available today!

    • I would suggest you can only claim the paid amount from your health fund. Krgds Jack Hawks

  • How important is the Base Curve? im ordering some contacts for a friend. her prescription says BC of 8.7 but i cant find anything matches. is 8.5 close enough?

    • -6

      BC and diameter don't matter.

      • thanks mang

      • +3

BC (base curve) and diameter relate to the size of your eye. If your eyes matter then so do BC and diameter.

      • +1

are you kidding me? they absolutely do matter. i don't even know where to begin explaining this what is this i dont even.

      • +2

You really shouldn't be giving out completely false information like that, but I guess anyone stupid enough to order contact lenses without a proper contact lens prescription have bigger problems to worry about.

Super_dre, your friend would have been prescribed a certain contact lens that suited their eye, it would be best to order that lens again, or if they are no longer manufactured or supplied, then it would be best for them to talk to an optometrist again to find a suitable replacement.

BC is definitely important, not every eye is the same and a proper fitting lens is important, otherwise the lens will slide around, which can result in either the lens getting trapped, or worse with corneal damage.

    • depends upon lens rigidity amongst other factors :)

    • It's not a good idea to guess. I had the same problem going from one brand of contact lens to another, and consulted an optometrist. She said that the wrong base curve will not fit your eye as comfortably. Some eyeballs are more 'flat', some are more curved.

      • base curve = lens curvature :)

  • Anyone knows if I claim through health insurance, whether the $10 shipping is covered or not?

  • I've been buying Acuvue Advance from overseas for a while. Doesn't look like Specsavers stocks these but I do recall my optometrist mentioning they were being phased out in Australia and replaced by something similar. Any idea which one that is?

  • Hi Store Rep, I can't find CooperVision MyDay in your store. Could you advise if EasyVision Linarial is the same?

  • +1

Everyone gets that these are grey imports right? And that Specsavers reportedly bypass local sponsor/importer laws by bringing lenses over per customer not per carton. I did consulting for a contact lens company worried about poor temperature control of their lenses during Specsavers international transit so please do be mindful of all factors related to cheap overseas medical devices including contact lenses.

  • Also compare with OPSM who have a buy 3 get 1 free deal + 10% off + free shipping.

  • Not too bad. $50 off plus get reimbursed 65% of the remainder. #winning

  • Ah no just bought over $100 worth of contacts from specsavers on Monday. Any way this deal could be added to my order or get a $50 voucher for the next time I order??

  • does this deal end at midnight tonight?

  • Have been trying to call Parramatta Store to book appointment for eye test and prescription but no callback returned. I wouldn't be able to avail this offer today.

  • Thanks Jack! Just got the better half a couple of boxes of easyvision Linarial for each eye and guessing will have to do a manual claim with Medibank Private next. As I am only a reading glasses man myself I'll keep an eye out (see what I did there?) for the next great deal..although I probably should rock down and check out the refurbished Warringah Mall store (my local) and get a re-test first! Need to see a special where I can get a few of those $249 frames down to my Health Fun $199 for 2 pairs limit!

  • +1

I used to always buy from aalens, but since getting health insurance I've been using specsavers online and its been really good with these deals.
