Well, this is probably common knowledge but thought I would put it here anyway just in case people don't know. I finally worked out how to buy music from Amazon saving me about $1 per song.
I have always been able to buy games using the fake US address trick (nothing else), but never music. Here's what I did to get around it.
- Download and use Hola
- Set Hola to US in Chrome for Amazon
- Send yourself a gift card using your Aus credit card - I used Bankwest to save on conversion to US dollars
- Delete any Aus credit cards from your account
Buy your music which will now default to the gift card (Will not work with any Aus credit card attached, which is way I delete them.
And probably goes without saying, but keep your fake US address to the account - I use 90210.
Alternatively you can set up a different Amazon account to use and send your gift card to that one if you want. Either way. Done!
Thank you for your detailed instructions. Saved me so much trouble!
I was scratching my head today about the same problem. Wohoo… thanks for saving me some money.
The same MP3 in Australia was sold for $17 whereas it's only $12 in US.
