Just went and got myself a few packs of eye fillets, average weight was about 1.75kgs. I saw a label which said they were Angus Beef, but I wasn't sure because it wasn't as dark as I remember Angus Beef to be.

I'm also not sure when this is ending, but their facebook page describes it as the "Mega Weekend Sale", however the butcher there in the morning said it might continue to the next week, depending on stock.

Happy hunting!

    Great prices.

This is where I buy my meat but check use by dates - I was there yesterday, and most of the meat had 'use by / best by' 22/23 August.

Despite being vacuum sealed, the meat won't last too far past this date - I had opened up a pack of scotch fillet that was about 10 days after this date, and had to ditch it due to the off smell …

Ah crap. Funnily enough I got overexcited and didn't bother checking the dates. :(
But I use vacuum sealed bags at home and plan to freeze them.. Hopefully it won't go off..
Either that or I'll just have a massive meat party.

Thanks for the heads up I'll put it into the post. Do they have these sales often?

        "meat party" eh?
        sounds interesting ;)

haha I guess it's not much of a party..
More of a casual "meat up" with the mates.

Lol 10 days past best before and you are expecting it is still fresh as.

  • when you say they are vacuum packed are they packed as one would expect 1 slice/piece at at a time?

    • Um, it's one piece of meat at a time, but it's more of a bulk buy.
Say in my pack of eye fillet, the butcher cut up about 8 slices for me.

The rump looked massive, but I didn't really catch what the average weight was.

There was a section for smaller packs, but I didn't check that either.. The whole place was pretty much a massive cool room/freezer.. There's jackets outside, but I didn't put one on. Just wanted to grab some meat and head home.

      • Um, it's one piece of meat at a time, but it's more of a bulk buy.

I believe they call that an orgy

  • do they only sell beef

    • They had other meats such as lamb pork and chicken, but they weren't on sale.

  • I bought eye fillet the other day for $13 a kg and sliced

Maybe Qld meat prices are cheaper
