I need a 2.5" HDD to go in my PS4, can these removed from caddy.
No, the samsung portable hard drives (both M3 and P3) have soldered on USB interfaces, the Seagate ones, however, have SATA-USB adapators which can be removed.
From all accounts I've read they do not have soldered interfaces. The problem according to the link provided says it is too much of a power draw on the PS4. All reports say once stripped down it is a USB 3 to SATA converter. Also that they use M9T drives.
Apparently not, I'm looking to get a PS4 and install a 2TB drive too.

That's the portable hard drive i bought and use it on my current ps4. Yes it will work, update 1.72 solved the issue for the 2tb hard drive for the ps4

My experience hasn't been good with Samsung portable USB drives. Had bought a 500GB 2-3 yrs back. Have WD, Seagate, Hitachi and Toshiba at present…all working fine.
I don't think Samsung makes HDDs. They probably have one of the others' HDDs inside.

Not any longer. Samsung sold it's HDD biz to Seagate a few years ago.

I think they have removed the discount code as well, it doesn't work on other Samsung drives now.
