12 x Half Island Shiraz 2005 $39.95 + $14.95-$24.95 Shipping - COTD Subscriber Only Special

130

Normally $18.50 per bottle, today under $3.40! Limited quantity available!

This wine was intended for export to overseas markets. Unfortunately, due to the financial crisis and other factors orders were cancelled leaving a large excess parcel of this fantastic shiraz. They only feature a rear label, the front labels were never applied. Two reasons why it’s possible to offer this wine so cheap!

The colour of this 2005 Shiraz is brick red with crimson hue. It has a bouquet that will reveal elements of sweet smoky spice. The wine is of full bodied with prompt tannins that provide both structure and balance. The palate displays good varietal characteristics of berry sweetness with plum and blackberry overtones. The wine is ready for drinking now but will benefit from careful cellaring for up to 8 years.

  • If only there was that front label!

    Bloody good price though

  • you could have labled at $4.99 each

i have a dozen penfold, so got to finish them first…

  • d*mn, u should've posted earlier pigeonstone. The $4.99 has front label@!~

  • But Winesheddirect charges $0.83 per item for delivery, so it should be $5.82/bottle.

    • just order them separately :P

  • The front label is worth an extra dollar~

  • Sold out anyway.

  • Is it any good for someone that doesn't drink cheap shit wines?

    • That's irrelevant now that they are gone. :)

If you don't drink them, don't buy them. Best to go to your preferred wine area, taste and pick what you like, then buy the specials offered at the cellar door.
This has worked well for me with Red Hill pinots, if this helps. At the time, ~$8 a bottle for Red Hill cleanskin plus a nice drive from Melbourne.

I'd avoid any of these offers unless you've tried the wine first. ;)

    Helpful words from 'Black Books'……….

Bernard: (slurring) Old wine is good wine.
Manny: (also slurring) Yes, but… expensive wine is good wine also.
Bernard: Yes, but the older the wine is, the gooder it is.
Manny: Ah, but by the same token, the more expensive the wine, the gooder it is also.

    :o)

    • gotta love the black books!

    • indeed!

  • I think the $20 off deal from Winemarket is sweeter than this, you can get AU Merlot/Shiraz 2006 for $51 delivered.

  • mine has arrived (with the front-label attached)
    :D

Tastes awful! Maybe the cork has dried out - it was awfully hard to remove from the bottle.
I hope the whole dozen isn't tainted. Anyone else got a dud?
    It has not aged well.

What was I thinking buying wine from CoTD?! Idiot!
