INTEL i3 4130 + 4GB RAM + 2TB HDD NO OS @CentreCom $299 + $15 Delivery to SYD NSW

120

Not a bad deal for someone who doesn't want to build a cheap one by themselves like me.

I actually want to downgrade the HDD to 1TB and upgrade to 8GB RAM…

Thanks to teleman123 deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/156940

  • What you need the 8gb ram for?
The other specs of the pc aren't that great so extra ram is pointless

  • 9.75$ shipping to 3000 postcode

    • or free pickup ?

      • As the anonymous negger implied, pickup isn't an option.

  • For $299 I'd get an Intel NUC instead..

A $299 Intel Celeron NUC still requires 2 more parts required to get it working: RAM and HDD. That's probably another $150 worth in parts, and works out to be more expensive than this complete desktop.

        Correction. BOXD34010WYK NUC i3 NUC.

    • Desktop CPU vs Mobile CPU. Power vs Small size

  • is it cheaper to build this yourself? I wonder.

I'd buy it, but I need 8gb of RAM for the work I do, and since they don't say which motherboard it is (and aren't around to ask) there's no way of knowing if I can stick enough memory in it.

Seems stupid for Centrecom to run a bargain late on a Friday night that expires 7am Saturday morning, particularly when it's a PC with so much opportunity for upselling.

    • and since they don't say which motherboard it is

      it varies…

lol what cheapass m/b doesnt have at least 2 slots

one slot has a 4Gb module

        the other slot is open

        jeez whats the worry

Even the cheapest nastiest H81 motherboards you can buy today will support at least 16GB of RAM. 8GB certainly is no problem for a Haswell era motherboard.

My guess is that it is the MSI H81M-P33, since it mentions it has Realtek ALC887 which narrows it down between the MSI and Asrock H81M (both the lowest end mobos that are found in Static Ice.)

But they may load it up with 2x2GB, meaning if it only has 2 slots you have to either ditch one or both included DIMMs, then buy extra RAM to populate it.

  • can i use this with my hp n54l NAS (server) for a media server to my TV?

    • sure

i expect at least 4 sata slots maybe 6

and intel hd gfx is very good for video

the cpu beats the snot out of the AMD Turions

I don't know why this is so cheap. It might be because the new line is coming out soon and the haswell refresh are already quite dominant.

However, when you strip away the parts and realise it's an old case and PSU that probably won't be purchased as it has few fan slots and is USB 2, then it makes sense. The parts itself without the case and PSU total around $300.

    • I think it says it has USB 3.0 "USB Ports: 1. Up to 2 USB 3.0/2.0 ports".

      • +1

I'm pretty sure that is from the backplate. The case itself doesn't have any, therefore people will be less inclined to purchase that case. So basically, you can give it away for free as it probably costs more to store it.

  • Any chance of getting this at the store instead of getting it delivered?

    • It was an on line only deal.

  • My god I was selling those cases out of my PC shop back in 2006.
