As the title says , i am looking for a very very cheap four door automatic car .Preferably a hatchback that is good on fuel as well. I have been looking and searching for it all over Gumtree and some Facebook pages , but couldn't find anything .May be people don't sell them anymore ?
I am aiming at around 1000 bucks , +- 200

People sell them, just not that cheap. Your best bet is to find an ads for cars for 2-3k that have been around for a while and offer then 1200 cash, right now. No one is going to put a price tag of $1000 on a decent car.
Nowadays, Green slip is a lot more expensive. Was around $140 at the start. Now is min $550+. Rego is $300+. $1000 may mean giving the car away, which often does not happen if the car is working. A full tank of petrol alone can be a $80+.
If you find something for that price it will most likely be nearly out of rego, need new tyres and many other things. Auto transmissions in cars of that price are most likely in need of serious attention as would many other things.
What I am getting at is that while you may buy a cheap car you will most likely end up paying a lot more to keep it on the road.
Don't think you can get away without some sort of insurance either, just basic TPP will cost a few hundred at least. Driving without it can mean risking a lifetime of paying off a debt… and it happens.Not going to happen, especially if you live in an eastern state where there are compulsory roadworthy inspections.
small automatic cars are always in hot demand, so they demand a premium, even the old shitters.
learn to drive a manual and you'll have a world of cheap decent small cars available to you for the ~$2000 mark.
I have an early Renault Clio and it is fantastic.
Reliable, uses almost no fuel, 4 door hatchback, can park in the smallest spots. I even managed to transport a big entertainment unit in it (still not sure how).
That was closer to the 3k mark though.
Not sure you're going to find much below 2k that isn't a piece of shit that breaks down all the time (which works out more expensive).
