It's a pity EA ruined this franchise. Like they did to Maxis and Bullfrog.

Everything they touch turns to poo

At least the franchise doesn't have micro transactions.

Like every other bloody game they made.

    Nod Bikes FTW.

One question, how to play these old games on Windows 8? Virtual machine?

  • Any idea if they support better resolution? I remember digging RA2 out of my cupboard and couldn't get it better than 800x600 or 1024x768 and vehicles were the size of a portable hard drive.

      Red Alert 3 loves 2560x1440 :)

      • It sure does, I just recently re-played it on my new monitor at that resolution

        • Cheers! Buying it right now then for some nostalgic awesomeness

  • What I really want them to do is to update the network protocol used for the older games… well, RA2 + Yuri namely. Man, that was fun in multiplay. Loved my prism tanks and robot tanks. As fun as RA3 was, it just went too goofy for my liking.

It's a pity they pulled the plug on Generals 2. I was looking forward to a new C&C. But then I'd much prefer them to go back and redo Tiberium Twilight and make it a traditional RTS. Hell, even the F2P Tiberium Alliances game is more fun than C&C4.

  • I got angry when CC4 (needing internet and installed but not played) broke my RA3 (it now wanted internet when none available). I was on holiday and thought a burst of RA3 to finish it off would be good. That was a year ago and I haven't touched them since. EA are evil.. but I am still tempted.

  • I already have the "Command & Conquesr Saga" which is 13 games (All games up to Tiberian Wars). It was fixed to run on Windows XP, and when I went to using Windows 7 64bit there was one or two issues, plus the screen resolution problem with a moder high res screen (Picked it up from Ebay India, paid with "paysapal" for about $10).
I really only play Generals and Zero Hour, still love those games more than the rest.
You can get around low resultion issues by using "GenTool_v6.3", though I do not use this for its online abilties, but allows you to run up the resolution higher than the older games would allow.
Am interested in getting this newer Windows 7 fixed set, at only $10 sounds good, and not too much to waste if EA have made it worse than it was for XP anyway. But what is the total download pack size? I assume that the 41GB quoted is the uncompressed size on disc for all games, anyone know what the true size of the compressed download file is?
Having a slow 750k per second DSL connection would make 41GB download take a day or two. (Wish I could access NBN speeds)

  • Do you have to install and keep the Origin software on your PC in order to download this package and keep it running? If I can:

    1. Install Origin
    2. Download and install this game package
    3. Uninstall Origin
    4. Keep playing the installed game package

I might look at buying it. Just not keen to keep crappy pointless bloatware like Origin on my PC (I hardly ever buy games, I just really want this Command and Conquer package).

Yeah it requires Origin to be installed. Origin and Steam are not too bloaty(just disable auto startup and updates). You can build a whole game library these days with all the free games floating around.
