I don't think I've ever paid for an eye examinations, it's always been bulk billed to Medicare.
.. does that mean this bargain is only relevant for overseas students not covered by Medicare?

    • This is much, much more comprehensive than your usual eye test. Note that it says it'll take 1.5-2.5hrs to complete.

I know these eye tests - I get tested, and they tell me I need glasses. When they give me the quote, I tell them the same.

All eye tests every 2 years are bulk billed and free..

    • it is 3 years now.

it is the optometrist who runs the business who chooses whether they bulk bill or not. I choose to bulk bill at my practice, and I'll also bulk bill you even if you have had your eyes tested elsewhere a week or a month ago. But some practices do not work this way

        • Is it possible to bulk bill someone who has had a bulk-billed eye examination with the last 2 years? I remember seeing on Medicare website that to be eligible for a Medicare payment again within 2 years, there is has to be a deterioration of the vision or something like that, that warrants another examination.

@surm: not true. We (at my practice, anyway) choose to bulk bill you even if it's within the 2 year period. We receive a lower fee from the government if it's within the 2 year period, but it is still a bulk billed eye test.

  • They are generally students who are super slow and supervisors check and double check things. The wife who used to do this rkns it" definitely is not a bargain" lol

I first read this as eye extermination. Guess I need this service…

  • Should I A. Go or B. Not go

… First Choice … or Second Choice..

    First… or Second…

    Again… A.. or B…

    Yeahh … Yeahh.. B… B is better, Definite B

  • Useful. Thanks!

    just what i needed

  • This isnt a special, its something that UNSW optometry clinic does EVERY semester.

Also do note that as the eye exams are comprehensive and meant to give the students practical experience, it will last at least 2 hours long and they will use the dilation eye drops. A typical eye exam only takes about half an hour for me and i dont need the eye drops.

I went there once and for some reason it took more than 3 hours and i missed dinner…and i ended up with a wrong prescription too.
