  • seems $5 of coupon has no min spend and unknown "designated Expiry Date" - wonder if online ones can be used in-store and vice versa?

    • It seems we get 1 week from the date receiving it, as per comment below.

The in-store coupon will be printed on the receipt and probably needs to be scanned at the checkout, can't see how this could be used online? I've had these before with a $10 coupon.

The online one says: Coupon is valid for redemption Online and in a single transaction

What I don't know is, can you qualify for both? By spending $50+ via both shopping options.

I tend to agree with the No Minimum Spend, since it hasn't been covered in the T&C's.

I got a coupon this morning and couldn't figure out why. My expiry date was 20/08/14 so it looks like I have a week to use it.

    • Cool, good to know, thanks.

The checkout staff saw that my bill totalled $49 this morning and asked me to go back and get something else for $1. Very nice to alert me to this promotion. So I got a $5 voucher on bottom of receipt expiring 20 August as well.

I was $2 short from getting $10 off $100 a week or two ago. The staff member said nothing and I only noticed the ad (black and white A4 paper stuck on the wall) as I was leaving the supermarket.

I have stopped going to Woolworths for a month due to this. (Not that it matters as these guys have market domination and a billion dollar business).

You should have refunded the lot and repurchased it!

  • Got mine today. The expiration date on mine is for the 28th.

  • ahh, this explains the $5 off voucher on my reciept today, i never usually look at them as i assumed they never have anything ;]

  • No transaction splitting allowed.

I'd like to see them stop anyone who had decided it was worth the time to pick up $50 worth, and go through checkout a few times. "Hey, weren't you just in here? Go away!"

Has anyone checked whether it works for phone recharges? The Coles promos do.

    • I haven't checked, I've still got enough recharge vouchers to keep me going til January, from recent Coles promos!

  • I tried to redeem a voucher today, but was declined. Not sure why. I'll try again next time.

    • I had a problem at the self serve checkout last week with a voucher and got them to manually put it through. A common issue according to the staff member.

Other vouchers have worked at the same store though.

      • I used a voucher at the self serve yesterday and didn't have any problems.

        • Yeah, mostly they have worked for me too. Just the once it didn't, was a $10 one so I wasn't leaving without my discount!

      • I used 2 vouchers successfully at the self serve today (had to do 2 separate checkouts / payments).

The staff were watching over this with eagle eyes - after seeing that the voucher worked for me a staff member took my old receipt from me, tore the $5 coupon out and returned the other bits to me.

Makes me think Woolies could've saved some manual work by making the coupons valid once only - I suppose at least it creates some extra jobs.

        • I wonder if you can qualify for this week's voucher if you use last week's voucher in the transaction?

Did you spend over $50 and get the new voucher?

          @nismo:

No, I think it totalled around $30 after the discount. I would imagine you'd be wise to use the voucher to buy something a little over $5, then make another transaction over $50 to get a new voucher.

        • @Its4me:
          Thanks.

Yeah, I did a small $20 shop this morning to use the old $5 voucher, then main shopping later (>$50) to get the new $5 voucher :)

          @nismo:

You can get a voucher by spending over $50 and also redeem a previous voucher in the same transaction - I've done it a few times in the last week or so with no problems.

        • @baxter:
          Good to know, thanks :)

  • Got my $5 voucher yesterday, expiry is 24/8.

They seem to be giving most of us a week to use it.

Didn't realize transaction splitting not allowed.
Went through self checkout and bought $220 worth of groceries as 4 transactions and got $20 off by instantly using the $5 vouchers generated by previous transaction. Worked a treat. Lady didn't say anything.

    • Transaction splitting is mentioned in the T&C's (that it's not allowed).

I have done it but you just don't earn more than one voucher.

      I did it 'other' reasons.

I guess they can't stop you from doing multiple / separate transactions

      • I got four vouchers in a row and even got a new one when redeeming the previous one.
Perhaps transaction splitting means multiple payments on a single order.

        • My guess is that the "no transaction splitting" is dependent on the staff enforcing the rule. I don't see how they would be able to program it into the system.
