netplus generally have very good prices, and they deliver too. Unlike your store, fluidtek.

Stupid neg vote. U can see if u click the link the prices of the other parts and are well priced

    • +3

Freakovit, your comments are very biased. Seems that your judgement is purely based on the fact that if it aint 'Bestbuytek' or 'Fluidtek', it automatically gets a negative.

Btw, in the retail computer industry, a 5 - 10% discount means alot, given that profit margin on computer parts/hardware (excluding cables) are quite low given the competitive nature.

Having to spend $500-600+ to save $30 off a tower does seem that remarkable to me!

    • +2

Obviously you arent going to buy a system just to save money on the case (the cheapest on static ice is $150 and its ex demo) but if you are buying a system which most people buying a case would be doing its a great deal.

  • +3

    Not a very good deal.

  • -1

Having to buy an OS also is the real killer for me here. And the HDD bit is a bit of a drag too. On the other hand, if I was to build a new system, I would probably consider this deal, assuming their prices for the other stuff are not too bad. Have to vote negative anyway, this is not what I consider a bargain.

    • +2

"if I was to build a new system, I would probably consider this a deal"
you know you can just not vote right :D

  • +4

Mmmm…..Ultimately, this offer only represents (at best) a 5% discount off a $600++ spend.

Such a small discount is in no way worth publishing and represents nothing more than an "advertisement", ultimately detracting from the sites intended purpose.

  • +3

Having to spend $500+ just to save $30 on a case… in the grand scheme of things this "deal" isn't all that great.

    I'm withholding my vote because

    a) $99 for an Antec 900 is a good deal (positive)
    b) to be eligible for this deal you would have to spend a significant amount, on an ENTIRE system including the OS. What if you only want Windows 7 or already own an OS ? (negative).

    • +4

the cheapest 900 on staticice is $150 and its a demo unit brand new cheapest is $160 so a $60 save on a $500 system is a bit more than 5%

      • NetPlus usually sell it for $139 (static ICE)….so they are offering a $40 discount. Even a basic budget gaming rig (the antec 900 after all is a gaming case, not a budget rig case) would run you at least $1k. So really, it is less than a 5% discount!

But in all fairness Netplus have offered some good deals before, this just insn't one of them.

    • Of all the comments here, this is the most decent one and I agree with it. So this gets a neutral from me (no vote). If you didn't have to buy a OS, this would be a positive.

    • Hey, can I get the deal if I decide to buy a copy of Linux :D

    • im not related to netplus whatsoever but this is something i've been thinking myself.. since you could get a copy of vista cheap (home premium around 169) with the certificate to upgrade to windows 7 for free, would that be more cost effective then buying win7 outright which some has spaculate to be 200 - 300 for win7 premium?

  • +6

It would be a bargain if it was for the case alone, but in the context of buying a whole system it comes across as simply a con and spam.

  • +6

    this isn't a bargain…this is a marketing ploy

  • +1

If you are in the market to buy a system from there anyway it's a fine deal.

    • -1

exactly - some ozbargainers are hard to please - its like they smell a BIG bargain and neg just because its not one?

netplus are not the cheapest but are not the most expensive either - good deal if you're in perth.

neutral from me as im not in perth.

  • +4

    misleading -1

    • You'll have to specify another reason as there is nothing misleading about the deal conditions.

  • +3

It's basically saying "Spend over $400 and get $40 off the total"

    • By the same token, should we have neg repped those $300/40c fuel vouchers? The average person was going to end up saving less than $30 as a result.

Or perhaps, it was a bargain because if people were buying groceries they were going to get the benefit…

…so using the same logic, if people were going to buy a computer, they'd get the benefit.

      • +3

I don't buy a new computer every fortnight. And on that note, someone buying a new computer would be better off sourcing all their parts from different stores. e.g. buying a case locally as the postage cost is always insanely high.

  • +2

While this is an ok deal, its not a bargain.

If you think this is a bargain, then why don't you go and post most of the fluidtek website, their site is full of "get item at this price if you buy this"

    • +1

      +1. You are exactly right.

  • +4

if it was just a motherboard purchase, it'll be a bargain.

But the MINIMUM requirement of "CPU, Mainboard, RAM, Hard drive, Power Supply, and Operating System" in order to BUY a case for a mere $40 discount, that's a little too much requirement, isn't it?

Unless Netplus has all the cheapest parts for the aforementioned requirement, I think it's better to shop around different stores for the parts and save yourself more than $40 (I did anyway). I personally think this is an indirect advertisement from NetPlus, and they're getting away with it.

    • agreed

    • couldn't agree more

    • Or you could just grab all the cheapest prices for each component from the different stores in WA (note that parts from the east can be more expensive or about the same when factoring in shipping) and get them to price match each of them. That way you still get the cheapest price for your build if you're in WA. They're very relaxed when comes to price matching.

Having said that, still won't be a positive from me considering I don't need more than half of the components.

  • no good. no bargain for me

  • Not everyone wants to buy an operating system (open source, pre-owned etc). That seems beyond what a 'complete system' should consist of.

  • on the netplus site, they say they'll beat any lower price - so I guess you could take the static ice price to them, and get it cheaper without the whole system build - though a lot of places will do price match, so not really a bargain, but might be ok if you're building a system (they seem to have a few system only deals on processor etc…)

    It stays neutral for me

    • NetPlus only match prices from other bricks 'n mortar shops in Perth that have stock.
Gosh they're certainly getting a lot of exposure by posting on this site!
