I read that blog - about 80% of it is crap! and not true… I say 80% because the other 20% is dribble…
I feel sorry for any person that thinks like that and believes it, then acts based on his assumptions…
We bought a latex mattress about 4 years ago, and after shopping around found a place in Albion. See 21b on the google map link
I think it was called mattress discounters or something like that. The prices were the cheapest around for the same products that are in the retail stores.
Had a look at makin mattresses but their product was overpriced, for instance they considered having foam along the sides a feature that would prevent you from rolling off the bed. Telling us that the foam would stay stiffer than the latex, sounded to me like a way to cut costs.. foam is much cheaper than latex & does compress over time.
I should also mention that we purchased a queen size non gusseted pure latex mattress, the brand was AH Beard which is a local company, and we paid just over $1k.
Dial A Bed in Brendale had some really nice mattresses, they felt great. But at the time were just over our budget at $1.5k
At the end of the day you need to spend time lying on each one, for at least 10 mins to get a feel for what is good for you.

In regards to where I'd recommend - I am always cautious at going to factory outlets, or some kind of no name bedding store. You never really know what is inside the mattress or how they have constructed the bed, make sure you ask LOTS of questions of how they have built it, or what is inside the mattress… When you find out what you are looking for I can explain further in regards to mattresses…
Have you ever tried <a href="http://www.rockdalamattressfactory.com.au/">Latex Mattress</a> from this company? There are some modular latex mattresses but there in no price on it. If someone have bought some mattress from http://www.rockdalamattressfactory.com.au please let me know about their quality and price.
I went to www.mcbedding.com.au today, it's next to Knox in Melbourne.
They have quite a few choices for the low price range below $500. Everywhere else we went they only had one or two model for under $500. We got a double and a single for $350 and $250 with free delivery. Just thought I share, even though it may not help you leilv.
