SSD for Apple Macbook Pro, 250+GB... What's the cheapest for decent quality?

For a back up computer that has a fried HDD….all I'd use it for is surfing, word, excel, and various statistical programs. Nothing major.

I would still like some decent quality though…

Crucial X100 at ShoppingExpress.com? Or the Samsung 840 EVO or PRO at the same site?

Pick the capacity that you need, then buy the cheapest available. For your needs, they are all the same.

im also thinking about upgrading my sis' MBP 2011 (SSD and 8GB RAM) where are you buying the toolkit from?

  Hey mate, I got lucky and just had the mini-tools laying around from an old cheap multi-function set from Kmart I think….I imagine over time I will strip the screwdrivers, however for now, they seem to be doing the trick.
