Looking for some help / advice.
I am looking at getting a windows tablet to basically only be used to plug into the TV via HDMI to stream videos and whatnot. I live between two houses, so I like the idea of a tablet for ease of portability, however not completely against the idea of a light and portable laptop, but I guess the tablets are cheaper.
I do have an iPad Air and latest gen Apple TV (no jailbreak) but the Aus commercial FTA TV stations catch up sites and apps are pretty terrible. They only really work when airplaying to the Apple TV from ipad, but I like to second screen and do other stuff on ipad when watching TV. Also, Apple devices don't play flash videos. Annoying. I still get plenty of use out of the Apple TV, mainly with Netflix and Hulu as well as youtube.
I would like to get the cheapest option possible (this is ozbargain after all), I don't think I am wanting too much grunt from the device / laptop, but would still like to be able to comfortably stream via HDMI smoothly.
I have been looking at the Toshiba Encore which is $288 (plus delivery) with a bonus case currently at Harvey Norman.

Another option I have considered is the Microsoft Surface RT 2 which is around $400 (plus delivery) currently at HN and JBHiFi but I'm not too familiar with RT version of windows 8, not sure whether RT would limit capabilities?!?

TL;DR: I want cheapest windows tablet available with HDMI out, able to stream videos to TV.
Perhaps look at Google Chrome Cast, it does pretty job for streaming online videos and sharing tabs from Chrome browser
