Blown powerboard

So last night, I was on my Xbox 360 with the portable heater running in front of me and suddenly, the tv, heater and xbox turned off.

I thought the powerboard had too many things plugged in at the same time, so I took out the plugs I didn't need. I press the reset button on the powerboard and all of a sudden, the powerboard made a kinda a buzzing noise and smoke started coming out.

The smell was so bad it stunk out the whole bedroom.

Did I do something wrong or was the powerboard at fault?

Usually the HEATER would use the entire 10AMPS the power board is rated.
    Probably to much load.

Id avoid running the Heater on a power board in future , and invest in better quality power board.

    • Ah ok. Thanks for that. Didnt think the heater would be the culprit. Had times when I used the hair dryer and that would switch everything off.

Ill use the power socket instead for the heater from now. Thanks
