My iPhone 4S, for the last week, has been going flat extremely quickly. Overnight, it goes from about 80% to 10% with absolutely no use.
I'm charging it 3 times a day.
Could I have caused this by using the wrong charger (2amp iPad air charger)?
Are any of the cheap ($3) ebay batteries real/any good? Or are they actually much lower than the mHa advertised?
The phone was given to me by a friend, and I suspect it's older than 2 years (Apple warranty check says all warranties have expired).

A higher amperage charger (as long as it is the same voltage) will not cause damage the way you describe,as the device/battery will only draw as much current as it needs.
Purchased a new battery from an Australian seller for my iPhone 4. $10 inc postage. Appears to work perfectly fine and the capacity is good. Physically the old and new batteries appear to be close to identical.
Check Apple website as some models have a battery replacement program or call them up if your iPhone is under 2years old and complain, they usually replace it as the battery should not fail within 2years.
