Garage Sale inside apartments

I am trying to sell a lot of stuff since I am moving, but I live in an apartment. I can't really do a garage sale since I don't have a publicly accessible garage.

What do you guys think will be the best way to do this with least amount of effort? I'm selling things like furniture, TV, DVDs, CDs, old laptop, computer, iPad, books, games, etc.

I may list the big items like computer and iPad on eBay or gumtree, but I can't be bothered to sell every single thing this way. Should I just take a photo of everything and put it nearby my apartment along with my phone number??

    some quick suggestions….

    • If you have a common area (Lifts / Entry Foyer / Gym / Stairwell / Mailbox area etc) put up a sign with photos of all the items for sale.
    • Advertise as a garage sale with specific date/time and treat it as an 'open house' to anyone who shows up.
    • Put anything of value your not selling in a locked room.
    • Put a post it note of the price on everything for sale.
    • Try freecycle for anything you cant sell.
    • Thanks, that's a good idea. I will try that, then I will do the rest of the big items on eBay/gumtree or freecycle them.

  • see if you can have a couple of mates (maybe women?), there to keep an eye on things and to look like they are other customers as people feel uncomfortable walking into an empty room.

    • Well, I think I will be just in the room playing games or doing my work, and let my door open? Not sure if inviting just people in the apartment building is enough though.

Well, do you have any better ideas? I just want to get rid of those stuff cheaply. It doesn't have to be a "garage sale" per se.

  • local Facebook for sale pages a very easy was to sell also i usually just meet people with the items somewhere nearby so they don't come to your house

  • Pack your stuff in your car and head off to a nearby bric-a-brac market as a seller for the day. Market fees vary from $10 to $65 for a stall space. If you have big bulky items, advertise them on Gumtree or eBay as you don't want to break your back…….
Price your stuff realistically and you should have success. Good luck.

  • What are you selling mate? Feel free to send me a DM.

    • I might post in this forum later. Keep an eye on this.

  • Donate to vinnies?

Yeah, I donated most of my clothes and books. I just want to sell the newer things like my iPad and other new DVDs.

  • See if there's a local car boot market in your area. Lions does one in my area on Sunday mornings. $10 buys you a carpark sized space which you can flog stuff off for. Maybe have pics of the furniture and people can organise to come see it and everything else can be sold on the spot.
