Ideas for New Career?

Looking for some ideas on how to prepare for a new part time career in the coming years. Have worked in Science for 10+ years and have a Science Degree, but now I am a mum with young babies, and looking to start part time work in the next year or so.
I don't fancy my chances finding anything part time or local in my current field, so was thinking of doing a Tafe certificate in Business Admin or something like that, to improve my chances of being able to find something like reception work. Anyone have any ideas, or done something similar themselves?

  • If your people skills are good, do consider doing manicures and pedicures. Work primarily with females and you can do it at your place or be a mobile one so it might be safer, lower course fees and start up costs too.

I did science first in math, worked and switched to healthcare cos of the flexibility in hours in the future if I have children.

    • Thanks for the ideas. Unfortunately I can't do nails to save my life!

  • What type of science degree do you have sweets (what field)? And do you live within realistic driving/travel distance to UQ? Also, do you have pretty flawless written English skills? Feel free to PM if you'd rather not post the details. I have a few suggestions.

    • Have Applied Science in Biotech. And yes to both driving to UQ and English skills. Interested to hear your suggestions!
