Does anybody knows how it compares with Acronis True Image?

    • I've used both and i prefer aomei.. theres alot of extra useless tools in acronis that i never made use of and all the ones i did use are in aomei.. aomei also seemed to be faster backing up even on max compression (though both took a while for all my disks (2x256gb + 2tb + 1usb 1tb) so im not 100% in that equal at worst though) and the compression is quite good..
my favourite part is the image browser though it just mounts the full backup as a virtual drive and does so quickly with no slowdowns due to the compression (my cpu is a 3930K @4.2ghz so it may tax lower spec systems) so you can browse it with any file browser. much better than acronis' special OEM browser which is quite slow and clunky and hard to copy files out of.
also acronis i found quite prone to errors during backups for no reason.

FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN.. acronis customer serivice is terrible, an update failed and so had to uninstall the program. on reinstalling, because I upgraded from WD OEM version it wouldnt let me reinstall. contacted WD they said that acronis would need to provide the key. acronis took over a week and many long chats in order to agree to provide a key insiting there was nothing they could do in this situation. when they finally agreed they sent me an invoice for $25 as a "support fee" (the cost of a new key) so i said (profanity) that shit and ditched them .

long story short get aomei im on this one

    • I can confirm jmac's comments: AOMEI Backupper Pro 2.0 has a much simpler UI, is slightly faster to backup on standard compression and mounts images for individual file recovery much faster than Acronis True Image 2014 Premium. Acronis just appears to have become more bloated and more difficult to use over the years.

said my gmail address was not a valid email address ?

  • -1

No email address, whether real, fake, disposable, spam, junk, work or home, worked. Changed browsers, none worked. A waste of time.

Worked for me as well. Thanks OP.

    • I'm having the exact same problem, tired IE, FF and Chrome .com and .com.au email addresses.

    Thanks worked fine for me.

  • I did not know about this backup software until now, thanks OP!

But I think its free standard features are enough for me as the Automatic, Full, Incremental, and Differential Backups are available in it. Not going to sign up, but still + vote from me. :)
