  The long way round! Honestly think it's worth the extra $200-300 to fly Qantas via LAX and save a solid ~10hrs each way.

      To expand on your vernacular, there are %^&* loads of people in Perth (nearly 2 million) with %^&* loads of money to spend on overseas flights!

    Yes. I just tried adding a 3 day stopover in Abu Dhabi on one of the booking sites (BYOJet) and the price only went up $50. I tried Melb to AUH, AUH to JFK, JFK to MEL.
