I am looking for a new printer to replace my 9 year old Canon MP540. Here are a few requirements:
WiFi enabled printing
Individual ink tanks
Must take generic ink cartridges or those refill systems
Relatively fast printing
Scan
Copy

You won't find compatible inks as the print heads are on the cartridge. You will need to refill the cartridge which is a pain. I personally own this printer and love it however now only use it as a wifi scanner since the ink ran out.
I bought the canon MG7160 and I'm very happy with it
The generic sets of ink can be bought off of ebay for about $24.00 (6 individual carts)
I am even looking at a CISS system to save even more money (well I am a Ozbargainer)
Found that one at The Good Guys for $156. Officeworks has it for more, but red, not back, so won't price beat. Think I might grab it unless someone else can recommend something of similar sleep for around $1000
