Third Party Property Damage - Allianz or Coles car insurance?

Guys,

Recently I changed address and my Third Party Property Damage Car insurance with AAMI went through the roof after I have updated my address. So I shopped around and found Coles offering 243$ and Allianz 192$ for 1 year.

Is there any difference in benefits between Coles and Allianz Third Party Property Damage? I went through the PDS of both but it all looks same too me, albeit complex! My car is worth 1000$ or so, definitely need a cheaper decision. Can I go with Allianz confidently?

Allianz are quite reputable, I'd go with them if they are cheaper and there are no major difference you can spot.

Apart from your excess, what extra benefits above the paying out of any claim against you. New for old etc doesnt apply, lifetime guarantee etc as its not your car getting fixed.

The only "extra" you might like is adding fire and theft to the policy, but given you say your car is worth $1000 paying the extra plus the claims excess would probably only net you a few hundred dollars if your car was stolen etc.

So reality dictates that the lowest cost would probably be the better deal as loopylou says.

  • Based on the feedbacks from LoopyLou and RockyRaccoon, I went with Allianz. Now lets see how it turns out in the coming 1 year insurance term.

    Cheers!

PS: I'll definitely shop around again in the next renewal (preferably within AAMI/Coles/Allianz), don't want to pay the lazy tax! :)

    • Thats ok Loopylou and I can take a share of the $50 savings (Say $25 each) :)
