Hi all, would greatly appreciate help in deciding which of these 2 laptops to buy. I think I need/want 13' screen, 1.7 GHz, 8Gb RAM and 256Gb HD. Macbook Air comes in at about $1700. Ideally, I would like something cheaper with all the above specs. I'm looking for something very lightweight but fast. I'm flying next month so am able to buy duty free. What is best - duty free or TRS? Would I have to pay the TRS back when I return to Australia? Many thanks in advance for your help :)

As xyron says, TRS is best. Dunno what your needs are in terms of what you are going to use it for, but have you considered a chromebook? (eg. the toshiba one is available for under $350 regularly at dick smith) A chromebook is functionally equivalent to a Macbook Air in a lot of ways but a lot cheaper.

You arent serious are you?
Hi, thanks very much for your help.
TRS is best. technically you should pay it back when you return but who the hell is going to admit that?
I've been milling about with various ultrabooks lately (currently rocking a Toshiba Z830 at work) and none of the come close to the build quality of the macbook air. The Macbooks are really the best laptops you can get for their pricepoint. Grab one, chuck windows 8 on it and be happy with a solid purchase.
