I was given a couple of iTunes cards, which I don't want. I had a look on ebay to see what I can sell them for and they are selling for more than they are worth. Given that they are somewhere at 20% off almost every week! why would someone pay more than they are worth?
Why do people pay more than gift cards face value?
Comments
I had a look, most are US gift cards, so you can use them to bypass region locks???
eBay / Paypal offer no buyer or seller protection for gift cards so they're rife for scamming.
People pay over the odds on eBay because they can get a full refund without much hassle.
I've done it a few times, because Ebay gives out targeted 10-20% off vouchers. But that's one thing, another thing is why are people putting in bids just to save $5 on huge amounts like $200 plus.
I really wonder what you have to do to get one of those 10-20% vouchers. Always hear about them but never receive one myself…
Dunno, it seems pretty random, I have accounts ranging from power seller to personal low feedback accounts and I receive them on average every 4 month or so.
To spend money in their paypal account of course.
I bought something on eBay from a shonky guy one time. He actually took all the money people had paid him & bought Australian $20-$50 banknotes from other eBay sellers. By the time everyone learned they'd been dudded he'd spent all the money buying banknotes, & disappeared with the cash. No-one realised this was happening until he started getting positive feedback posted on his id about all the banknotes he'd been buying.
I doubt eBay got their money for seller fees from this guy either. So sad :(
When I see gift cards selling at more than face value I think someone badly wanting to spend their paypal money fast is buying that. Coles & Woolworths gift cards always seem to sell at face value or higher. Why would you do that unless you had paypal money you wanted to spend quickly?
Ummmmm
Why wouldn't you just transfer to bank account??????
Why would you want to keep money out of your bank account? Why would you prefer to get a gift card instead which is virtually untraceable in terms of who spent it?
I seen a $30 vodafone recharge voucher on eBay for $33.50 I simply asked the eBay seller, why would anyone pay $33.50 for a $30 voucher his reply was "There is a thing called convenience…"
Ignorance?
Stupidity?
Take your pick of reasons really.
Someone was selling a Mocha kids take on ebay second hand and the final price was higher than buying it brand new from Mocha direct.
Really gotta ask yourself.
