Mattress for Back Pain Adults

Hello Guys,

I have been looking for decent firm mattress for parents who are having lower back pain (from long time). We went to AMART and were recommended these 3 items by their salesmen :

CLASSIC HEALTH FIRM (Queen Mattress) $699.00 WAS $799.95
http://www.superamart.com.au/bedroom/mattresses/classic-heal…

MIRACOIL ADVANCE 5 - ELEMENT FIRM (Double Mattress) - $1,449.95
http://www.superamart.com.au/bedroom/mattresses/miracoil-adv…

ORTHOKINETIC SUPPORT FIRM (Double Mattress) $899.95
http://www.superamart.com.au/bedroom/mattresses/orthokinetic…

Please let us know if you have any better suggestions over these - so that we can visit those store and parents can try if they feel good with that.

Thanks for your help!

I have a pocket spring mattress that I love. I can't tell you the brand off the top of my head, but was recommended it as the best option (other than one of those memory foam NASA beds).

I'd definitely want a queen size though - doubles are so small. I'd also recommend going to a matress store over Amart - they might be salesmen, but they actually do know what they are talking about, although YMMV.

I had back problems many years ago and for me a firm mattress only made it worse.
Be wary of any mattress that has the words chiropractic or orthopaedic written on it… sales gimmick.
You want a good mattress most of all, it worked for me.
I recommend anything from the AH Beard range. Avoid sealy.

I don't know much but my understanding is that you should get a very good and a very expensive matters. It is something that should last 5 to 10 years and you will be spending 6 to 10 hours laying on it every night. It is one of the few things in life you shouldn't cheap out on.

But every one is different some people might get away with a $1000 matters and yet other can only sleep on a $10000 matters. When you are picking out which one you want lay on it for as long as you need, some people lay there for 30 minutes or more, make sure you are comfortable. My mum and dad have some type of $7500 maters (this was 10 years ago) he is a tradie and she sits in an office car all day and neither one of them have back problems. But that's just my parents I have a cheap $500 king single maters and it works fine for me.

I can't stress this enough tho everyone is different and you don't want it to be to soft or to hard unless it has been recommend by a specialist. Price shouldn't be considered and neither is the recommendation of someone on the internet, Get the one most comfortable for you (and your partner)

  • Tempur is a good one, but cost a fortune.

I have the pillow, the best investment for my neck.

    • Meanwhile I hate the tempur pillows. Feels like you're sleeping on a rock after a lil while. Love the matress though.

  • I dont know if this would be suitable, but we have the ikea natural latex mattress - very comfortable and best price we found for material.

  • As other have said, look elsewhere.

I was told by one in the industry, not to buy from anyone except the Big Department stores. We recently picked up one from myers which was 60% off, we tried there range of 15 and both me and the wife picked the same one.

The person in the industry said the cheaper stores buy the ones with the crappiest filling,no liner etc.

Shoes and footwear you shouldn't compromise on either, If you're not in one you're in the other.

Get your parents down to the shop and tell them to lie on a few.
