(PC) Shadow Defender - AntiVirus Software for Free

20

Shadow Defender is an easy-to-use security solution (for Windows operating systems) that protects your PC/laptop real environment against malicious activities and unwanted changes.

Shadow Defender can run your system in a virtual environment called ‘Shadow Mode’. ‘Shadow Mode’ redirects each system change to a virtual environment with no change to your real environment.

If you experience malicious activities and/or unwanted changes, perform a reboot to restore your system back to its original state, as if nothing happened.

With Shadow Defender, you have the flexibility to specify which files and folders are permanently saved to the real environment. This ensures important files and folders are kept after a reboot.

If you want to make a maintenance-free computer, Shadow Defender will be your best choice.

I rather store my important files on a separate 2tb external hard drive.
and if i ever got a virus id simply reinstall os it's quicker and less of a headache then trying to remove it.

An external hard drive can still get infected by a virus as soon as you accidentally connect it to an infected PC.

Why would you connect the external hard drive to a infected computer?
don't you thind id reinstall windows before i connect it?

        • Sometimes you don't know that you're infected.. a virus that made it known right away you're infected is not going to be as effective as one that doesn't manifest until it's had an opportunity to spread to other PCs.

If HIV killed a person instantly, that virus would be extinct already, because it would kill the host (and die with them) before the host had a chance to spread it. But this devious little virus doesn't have any symptoms for months or years after it has infected you, allowing you to spread it without knowing you even have it.

Having said that, I have never heard of Shadow Defender, and I'm happy with what I'm using so I will keep that.

          @lostn:
if a chance to spread is the trigger for it to become active it would mostlikely be trigged from a usb flash drive and in that case it would be as important.

either way i don't download shit that would infect my pc. i only use a few software such as
          google chrome
          firefox
          steam
          origin
          microsoft office
          photoshop
          Unreal developement kit
          VLC

          and thats about it.
im not a stupid newbie to computers.

@holden93: A chance to spread is not the trigger. The damage may be such that it happens gradually instead of all at once. Or it may be looking for an internet connection. Or it may trigger on a certain date or action by you.

Anything that makes you aware immediately that you're infected has a reduced chance of spreading.

Visiting certain websites can infect you.

You might be an expert at computers, but millions use them. Not everyone is as knowledgeable as you. And software like this was intended for them, not you.

I do more things on my PC than you do, so I don't trust myself to go unprotected.

For people who don't know what this actually does, this does virtualisation in Windows based on partitions. You use it to lock your computer down in a specific configuration you want, and while the program is active (shadow mode) any changes you make thereafter is temporary and is lost when you reboot the system.

Anything you want saved, you have to manually commit them using a context menu and it is then stored to the physical drive.

This would be pretty good for computers that are 'public', for testing out shady software, or if you have new computer users who are malware magnets.

    • You could also use a virtual machine and test your shady software in that.

  • sounds like a program i used to use called deep freeze.
