I've just moved.into a new house and waited one month for the Telstra tech to turn up to check if we could get naked adsl with internode. He told us we can't get anything until the previous.owner disconnect his phone line. The tech told me he doesn't know who the line is with. And the previous owner did a runner…
Anyone been in the same situation and have any advice?
We emailed internode but haven't heard back yet. Meanwhile we've blown heaps of prepaid data..
Can't connect DSL, previous owner connection still live

I had this situation connecting our house to Telstra.
Our house was a deceased Estate which had been vacant for 18 months.Dunno how it works for Internode, with Telstra, I had to send them proof of residency/ownership (ie electricty/gas bill) which will allow them to cancel the old account and set up a new one.
Took a few days, but once confirmed the process went quite smoothly.
Might be worth signing up to Telstra for Phone service to short circuit the process.Usually the ISP would ask you to provide proof of occupancy documents then they should be able to start a "Connect Outstanding" with telstra which can take between 1 to 2 weeks if i remember correctly.
Worse outcome would be a new line needing to be installed ($299) if they are unable to have the line cancelled by a connect outstanding
Well another Telstra.tech turned up and just installed a new pH line like it was no big deal. We didn't have to pay for it either. Thanks :)
Plug a phone in, dial 1800801920 or 12722123 or 12711 or 1800150436 similar and find out which company the phone is with and contact them.
Ring up internode and explain and if you get a dud try again.
Worst case if you can't wait get a new line put in ~$299 (say must be ADSL capable).
