Pressure washer advice

Hi all.

Aldi are doing a petrol pressure washer - not on their website yet - slated for Sat August 2. (Saw it in the printed catalog yesterday).

Specs: 5.5HP, 2600 PSI max pressure, 8.7L/min flow rate.
Price: $329.00.

These specs look similar to many of the petrol powered washers running around $480-$700 at Bunnings, or electric ones approaching $1K.

I'm not concerned whether it's petrol or electric; I just want a kick-arse wash, something that will last a few years, and for the least possible outlay. Can anyone experienced with similarly sized petrol powered washers please advise how they compare its performance to that of smaller electric models? If I'm used to a smaller electric model (eg. 1600 PSI, 5L/min) will this type of washer "blow me out of the water" or will the difference be subtle?

Ta.

  • what are u using it for
I used my uncle ones to clean the driveways and house and that was a electric one (prolly not a base model but not a high model)
and that worked great (driveway all clean)

    • Similar stuff - driveways, concrete walls, etc.

I've used a small electric cheapy (can't remember the brand) for the last few years but it finally clapped out. Some of our areas are under trees that really make a mess of the pavers - the black scum on the ground is like a millimetre thick - and I'm hoping a better one would allow me to just "blast it away" rather than have to go slowly to get a decent job.

  • Aldi pressure washer is petrol. I have not used any of the pressure washer. I keep checking one at Bunning's but never had a courage to buy it.

  • I picked up a Ryobi one at Bunnings on sale for about that price. Not at home, but it's either 2500 or 2600psi. I think full price it was in the $380-400 range. I'd pay a bit more and avoid some unknown brand from Aldi. Suppose it depends on the warranty though, Ryobi was 2 years.

    • Were you impressed with it? Have you used a smaller electric one that you can compare it with?

      • Yeah, it does an excellent job, I haven't used an electric one to compare it to though sorry.

  • Hi all

was looking on amazon.com and found the same brand that masters sell for $100 less if its coming from america would I need a diff wall plug To use it
    thanks

  • Yes you would, and also a power adapter because US has 110v plugs. Without one of those you could blow the thing straight away.
