      I would consider your neg a big + … Thanks :)

some may not have seen it yet, after having my paypal compromised a couple of months ago (where ebay/paypal was compromised and everyones logins stolen) and $400 taken out of my account i guess im a little sensitive about this sort of crap. 3 years is just completely wrong. i hope Con Of The Day loses millions in lost sales and it serves as a warning to any other company thinking about hiding something like this…..

i did end up getting my money back from paypal but it took a couple of weeks, not having that money for that long was somewhat a pain in teh arse.. at least ebay told people they were compromised AND forced password changes asap.

        • What happened to your PayPal Account may I ask?

        • @DAOtmc:
the website got hacked, only Credit card number likely to be compromised?

paypal is independant from this catch

        • Sometimes people use the same login information for multiple websites.

          Dumb if you ask me.

        • @DAOtmc: a couple months back ebay/paypal got hacked and someone "stole" all the login details for everyones account, someone/ones used that info to make a fake purchase on ebay from a fake account they made so they received my money, i had to them file a "unapproved purchase" claim with paypal and wait for them to investigate it.

@plmko: it was all done from my ebay account, not from my paypal its self.

I don't think that makes it a valid neg. Sure, post it as a comment to let other know.

We missed you guys there https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/153636

Cant we ask Scooty to ban COTD instead here on OZB. The details could also be posted why?

      • While I hate COTD for what they did…in the past month some of the most popular deals here have been from eBay who themselves were compromised in Feb and waited until May to report it. Sure, three months is better than three years, but it's also pretty poor from a site that has access to far more users data and resources. Unfortunately slow end user notifications seems to be a running trend.

I guess, where do you draw the line? In any event, I'll be very hesitant before using COTD again.

        • eBay who themselves were compromised in Feb and waited until May to report it.

i just had a quick google and i think you are mistaken. from how i understand it they didnt know back in feb that they were compromised and they only found out and then checked back to see in may, unless you have some evidence otherwise? i play around with community wifi stuff and we dont know of an attack/intrusion right away but can check back in logs once we know its happened to find out when and how it happened.

from what i can tell, they waited about a week to from working it out and reporting it/forcing password change, this also makes sense. they have to ensure they have blocked what ever backdoor was open amongst other thigns before going public because if they went public while it was still open then many more hackers etc would infiltrate and the whole situation would be a hell of a lot worse.

  • everything interesting i wanted was either sold out or only available in very few, very uncommon sizes.

    waste of time…

  • Very little sizes and there are no $15 van huesen shirts.

  • A $75 suit is worth a go.

  • I dont get it with "Julius Marlow Bomb Shoes - $25" - that looks black to me (except the shoe lace)…

  • When does this sale start? Everything seems twice listed price at the moment.

    • Will be 50% off in your cart.

      • Nope.. Tried that also..

  • Don't worry there are no mandatory reporting laws like over in US for any loss of PII(Personally Identifiable Information). So it not only COTD but lets say if any other retailer were done over they have no need to disclose it. Of course you may be forced if all details appeared on a Pastebin dump. I agree poor practise but the law allows them to do it. Easy fix change the law and make it a requirement or face jail. Look at the Target fallout in US. They lost most of the Top exec in there. Just my 5c, can't find 2c any more.

    • Problem is none of the governments in Australia have the balls to do much about it.
