Maximising EDR offers

hi ozbargainers …

Of recent times there have been some awesome targetted EDR offers sent out .
Im wondering if people know ways to maximise the offers you receive (eg. receiving $10 off, instead of 10% off that some people might receive). A lot of people who seem to get the great offers dont use their EDR very often.

I recall a post by someone who explained this but havent been able to find it .. i think it was talked about briefly in one of the woolworths posts with 100+ votes a little while ago.

Cheers

  • I would like to know if anyone has cracked the code to these EDR offers.

I open a card for each member of my family and find that if you buy very little on one card ($10 per week). Woolies sees it as active and will give some of the better offers such as $10 voucher for spending $50

    • Yeah I have found that as well. I think that the less you spend, the more inclined they are to give you better and more enticing offers. I think EDR figure that if you are not spending money at Woolworths, you must be spending money at their competitors such as Coles, Aldi etc. so ultimately they want you back into their stores in the hope you will spend more money

  • OP, I think you've already figured it out. "A lot of people who seem to get the great offers dont use their EDR very often." EDR reward disloyalty not loyalty. As mentioned above, have a separate account for each member of the household. Use one card on a regular basis and only use the other cards if they receive a targeted offer. The "get $10 off for a $30" spend" offers seem to be targeted to members who haven't used their card for 1-2 months. The "spend again soon" offers vary from time to time but this is actually the best one I have seen for a long time so I think EDR/WW are desperate to get customers back. Our household has received multiple offers of this kind recently and luckily they have all come at different weeks so we have been able to use each one.

If you get an offer for $30, only spend $30 in that transaction. Keep transactions as low as possible. This will lead to less increases in your targets for future offers.
