  • I got my bike, from Bike Force!

Hope they have some good bargains but at the moment it's to hard to tell as they don't give any examples.

Are you associated with Bike Exchange? I have a funny feeling you might be!!! Fess up……

  • I got the email more of less around the time the deal was posted so could have been the same for the OP.

Anyway, looking forward to what they have in way of accessories. I just got my bike, now to to stock up on some gear.

  • from 22-24 July … so still a few days to go before it starts

    • Nothing wrong with listing it before it starts , doesn't help with the keyboard warriors when there is no information and prices to compare with though

Then there should be a start date in the title.

    • I can't wait. No really, I can't.

  • COME ON BIKE SHORTS/KNICKS! Really need some decent ones cheap! The cheap chinese ones make me sore after two hours.

I'll be keeping an eye on this one - been looking for a decent hybrid for the wife around $300 and was checking out these two
    http://www.bikeexchange.com.au/a/hybrid-bikes/avanti/qld/for…
    http://www.bikeexchange.com.au/a/hybrid-bikes/polygon/nsw/no…

Might wait for the sale and see what develops.

    • A little different to the hybrid, but I bought an entry level Polygon flat bar road bike when eBay had that 15% everything sale and I'm very happy with it so far

    • I'm also looking to get a hybrid for under $300.

Anyone have any thoughts on the the Reid City as compared to the 2 that've been listed above: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-2014-Reid-Cycles-City-1-0-Urb… ?

It looks similar to me, cept you get 21 gears (unlike the Avanti) and you also get a rack and some bundled goodies, which may or may not be of value.

If you can stretch to a little more this - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/153467 is a very well specced bike for the price!

        • Thanks hoxygt. Would the Helios F300 handle off road as well as the others?

        • Thanks hoxygt.
Interesting option but nearly $100 more…
Would rather keep it closer to the $300

        • @david_z87:

No. The F300 has thin 23c tyres, the others are 35+. The Avanti also has front shocks which smooth out the lumps and bumps (but also add to bikes weight). Wide tyres are better off road but slower on the smooth stuff.

The F300 with 28 or 32c slick tyres would be better off road whilst adding minimal extra rolling resistance. Be a quick flat bar and a joy to ride I'd guess.

        • @hoxygt:

          Thanks again hoxygt

  • I'm after some kids bikes, so I'm gonna note the current prices and see if there is a difference.

  • hi guys, new to the whole bike scene. Can anyone recommend a road bike around the $500 mark which is of great value to a beginner but will be keeping it for a long time?

    • Are you after a proper road bike (drop bars, skinny tyres, close gears) or a cross bike, or a flat bar?

      • After doing a little research I think I'll go for a cross bike. It's better suited for the casual riding I'm going to do. However I if there's a bargain on an actual road bike - I may stay open minded. (I've ridden road bikes when I was a kid so won't be too hard to adjust)

        • Are you interested in pre loved (so many great bikes that were purchased for the owners riding fad which never lasted) or would you prefer new.

As an example I saw a Giant TCX going for $500, almost new condition - http://www.bikeexchange.com.au/a/cyclocross-bikes/giant/tas/…

        • @hoxygt:

with that type of savings a pre loved one would be perfectly suitable.
do you have a link to that giant bike?

          @woofermew:

No it was taken down after I bought it ;)

It was on Gumtree for at least 3 weeks though, its a rough time of the year to sell second hand bikes, but a gr8 time of the year to buy!

        • @hoxygt:

got my hopes up! alright think gum tree is the way to go then.

          cheers mate

        • @woofermew:

I see you are in Sydney, the options in Perth are huge so I'd expect your range to be 3 times greater, enjoy the search :)

  • Any recs for a first time Tri (Olympic distance). I've got a cyclocross bike (Spesh TriCross Comp '08) which would be good enough, but thinking something more suitable might be worthwhile if i can get a good deal. Considering a Spesh Transition Sport '14, or a Shiv Elite…

The deal is now active but I can't see anything good at all to do with bikes since they're all over a grand except a ladies push bike. No deal bike exchange…
