So the beta just came out today. What do you guys think of it so far?
Destiny Beta - What are your thoughts?
Comments
I personally think it's a mix of a variety of games but I can definitely see the Borderlands aspect.
I played beta and found it a bit weird. I didn't know where I was going most of the time, the missions/side missions were confusing and I couldn't tell what I had done already and what I'd missed.
Graphics looks really good, gameplay feels like halo cross borderlands.
I just didn't know what I was doing most of the time.
YES I KNEW IT, people were all like "no man, nah", borderlands with halo skins is exactly how i described it for the last like 6months.
It's a good thing I saw this topic, I hated Borderlands so Destiny is a no go for me.
Borderlands is one of my most favored franchises. Halo on the other hand I dislike, I was a fan up to the third but after that I moved away from the franchise.
I like both Borderlands and love original Halo. But that being said, I don't think I'll be buying the new NOT-Telltale Borderlands (Considering Gearbox basically came out with a statement saying "We're only going to make Borderlands from now on because it's the only thing that makes us money"), and definitely not the new Halo because the forerunners are bad enemies with a bad storyline.
I haven't played the Destiny Beta, but I'm still on the fence. I'll probably end up buying the PS3 version; paying a whopping 20 bucks less than everyone else to play the same game. Teh winning is mine.
The new NOT-telltale borderlands is being made by the Australian studio that is basically full of irrational games vets - the people who bought you bioshock if I'm not mistaken.
I think theres a good chance they will make the borderlands pre-prequel or w/e its called pretty decent.
@RI4V4N: I can't wait for Tales From The Borderlands personally.
@Where's_That_Cake: I also heard Telltale are working on a Game of Thrones game as well. As a Game of Thrones fan, ohmigoshyusplz.
I really think its a bad game for consoles.
There are many enemies and they have a lot of health, trying to have an enjoyable game while aiming and dodging with the controller is very hard.
Then there's the weird respawning of enemies, boring story and so much more.
I think it would be playable on PC simply for the shooting aspect like it is with borderlands.
I think you don't have a good grasp on using a controller. I found the games shooting to be OK. Personally I hate kbm, much prefer a controller even in Counter Strike.
If only you knew what was possible with a keyboard and mouse…
Its not about getting a grasp on the controller its about having pinpoint accuracy.
I've seen pros play console games with controllers and they unfortunately also can't defy the reality of controllers.
Yeah heard that before and then kicked my friends asses on CS GO anyway.
I thought it was fine. The game does have quite a difficulty curve, kinda like borderlands. Doesnt seem to scale when more people join the game, and u cant revive urself in the non-revivable areas without others. So its kinda forcing co-op. Just wish there was a co-op join button for randoms.
As a half-console-half-pc gamer, I have no idea why people are so Anti-controller for shooters.
Lack of aim assist on the consoles seems to be an issue for many. They had it right with halo so I don't really understand. It felt to me like playing a PC game with a controller instead of a console-optimised game.
It doesnt aim assist? I thought it kinda did.
It definitely does aim assist. I think it's only active when you iron-sights near an enemy - it'll drag sights to the enemy. That's all the auto-aim there is, but it is present.
I've pre-ordered the Limited Ed or whatever it is. Played the Alpha and Beta.
The game is small, there's a massive lack of content, and it reeks of the typical MMO replay-missions-to-get-stuff. I never liked Borderlands, and Destiny is barely playable for me solo, but that's lack of content talking.
I think co-op with friends it'll be alright. But Bungie needs to release a ton of content for this game otherwise it'll be barely mediocre.
Why bother Stickman? You clearly are underwhelmed by it like others here.
Yeah, it's pretty hard. A couple reasons:
- I have a tiny teeny bit of faith that they limited the Beta and they will release more content for the actual game. It's $500M budget ffs.
- It is pretty fun with friends. I have people getting PS4's for this game, and I don't often hype-buy games for friend-play but I think this is one of them.
- Can always sell if it turns out to be trash. :P
i like it. i don't think the gameplay itself blew me away, and it's very halo-y and i'm not crazy about halo. but i've not really played any online co-op multiplayer since forever. the last one i played was probably phantasy star online on the dreamcast which i was addicted to and i'm really looking forward to getting addicted to this.
I thought the Alpha was boring, gameplay ripped straight out of Borderlands, graphics and shooting from Halo. What exactly does it bring that hasn't been done before?
Canceled preorder, I'll play something new instead.
