Dozen eggs. Cheaper than the big 2 and tastes fantastic (IMHO).

+1 for eggs. I also buy bread, sliced cheese and mince regularly. You should also try their chocolate and chocolate covered anything, much better than Cadbury.

      • That is usually because all the chocolate is from Germany, the land of chocolate!

        • Germany is not the land of chocolate. You may be thinking of Switzerland.

Pretty much everything, especially bread, milk, fruit/veg (although selection can be limited). I usually shop at Aldi, and when I go into Coles/Woolies on occasion are amazed at how expensive it is, especially their fruit and veg.

Aldi cleaning products are all really good quality for the price.
The nuts & seeds - almonds, pistachios, macadamias, sunflower, pepitas, etc.
    Cheeses.
    Brooklea Yoghurts.
    Rice cakes.

    Their towels are very popular.
    Snow gear.

    • +1 for cleaning products.

  • Muesli/Cereal Bars

  • Chocolate

The Napisan equivalent is OK, however the no name brand from Coles is just as good and cheaper too.

Turkish bread is also much cheaper at Aldi.

Sugar, servilletes, plain flour, cooking needs (brown sugar, condensed milk),passata, tomato paste, pastas, cleaning products, rice, cheeses, frozen foods, baby wipes, meat, mince & chicken, yogurts, crackers, biscuits, honey, veggies n some fruit. Pretty much everything they stock is very good, the only things I'm not a big fan of are their nappies ( but friends have loved them), tuna ( didn't like the taste) , chips (cut too thick), sometimes the fruit is not sufficiently ripe ( biter or sour) and the self raising flour has too much powder. I would suggest, you try a couple of things at a time and you will find in a few months, you will be buying the bulk of your groceries there.

I am an Aldi lover and shop there at least once a week and get 95% of my items from Aldi. These are my stand outs:

Nuts - I have been shopping around for months for Nuts at a reasonable price. I have tried Coles, Woolies, fruit shops, markets and even online. I even went to the apparent cheapest nut place here in Brisbane and I can say that Aldi's prices for nuts are cheaper then everywhere else I have looked. So I buy all my nuts from Aldi.

Cheeses - So much cheaper than at Coles and Woolies and still the same quality. My favourite is the $6 block of tasty cheese. Tastes just like the name brands sold in the supermarkets but less in price. There cheese slices are also really nice.

Toiletries and hygiene needs (deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste etc.) - Many of these products are significantly lower in price compared to Coles and Woolies and I personally think that they are the same quality as the name brands, if not better. These items do the job you need them to do and that's all that matters. Why pay more than you need to?

Fruit and Veg - At my local Aldi store they have good quality fruit and veg at really good prices. Consistently low prices. I have compared the prices to Coles and Woolies as well as my local fruit markets and Aldi still comes out the clear winner. 0.99c for a kilo of Bananas are my favourite!

We save so much money by shopping at Aldi and when I shop at Coles or Woolies I am always surprised as to how expensive a basket full of items is compared to Aldi

  • Everything in Aldi is worth buying. But here are some of my highlights:
    - canned oyster in oil / mussel in oil
    - premium curry jars with spice caps, a bit pricey at 2.99 but well worth it, save you from getting all the ingredients and throw them away later on. Hope aldi reduce price of this product.
    - marinade bags, again very convenient, taste ok
    - sparkling nautral mineral water 75c, note the sparkling part is not natural. I do hope the water is natural mineral. I can only find Soda water at Woolies, so I'm glad Aldi offer this.
    - washed & ready to eat mixed salad, at 1.79 a bag its cheaper than my local grocer!
    - chocolate coated ice cream sticks 3.49 or something for 10. Best. Thing. Ever.

Ok i will stop now before I get too carried away. Was planning to post only 3 but couldnt help myself..

Chocolate - much better than what wollies and others can offer.
    bread.
    milk
    eggs
    pasta sauce. Pasta itself
Canned tuna - mexican salsa flavor is our favorite
    cheese

I find nuts are cheaper at Flemington market. And very good quality.

    • Chocolate… it's slightly worse than Lindt but typically a lot cheaper, 'bout the same quality as Whittaker, but better than Cadbury's and the big twos, it is far far far far better than Nestle's chocolate.

I dislike the eggs there, they are pallette stacked, so there are many broken eggs. After a few days, it becomes really hard to find an unbroken dozen.

I'm not too impressed with the freshness of the vegetables, though the price is usually lower than Coles/Woolworths. I prefer to support my local greengrocer, as the price isn't that much higher, the quality is good and the money stays within the community.

  • Slightly off-topic but are they opening an Aldi in Broadway Shopping Centre (NSW), where the old Bi-Lo used to be? My friend told me she may have saw a sign there.

  • do aldi sell disco biscuits in aus? used to love them back in the UK.
