I've had this puppy in my Amazon basket since it was released waiting for the price to drop. Seems like it did this week. As always with Amazon, this might be a permanent thing or it might not.

Episodes include:

  • 2011 Christmas Special: The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe

  • Asylum of the Daleks

  • Dinosaurs On A Spaceship
  • A Town Called Mercy
  • The Power of Three
  • The Angels Take Manhattan

  • 2012 Christmas Special: The Snowmen

  • The Bells of Saint John

  • The Rings of Akhaten
  • Cold War
  • Hide
  • Journey To The Center of The TARDIS
  • The Crimson Horror
  • Nightmare in Silver (The Last Cyberman)
  • The Name of The Doctor

Note - it doesn't include the 50th or the 2013 Christmas special. Hopefully that will be in the s8 set.

I wouldn't recommend this set. Not only is it Region A only, but due to US TVs not accepting 1080i @ 50fps, which is the correct frame rate for the show, it will be sped up to 60fps (or possibly slowed to 24fps - either way).

So you're much better off buying from the UK or locally so you can get the correct frame rate, better image quality and audio that hasn't been adjusted to match the change in length.

    • Wrong about that on the region A. This Doctor Who Series 7 blu-ray from Amazon US is region free. All BBC blu-ray is region free any where in the world.

To backup that statement the Series 6 blu-ray set is reported as region A & B so the Series 7 set will be no different. http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Doctor-Who-The-Complete-Sixth-…

      • That's true of BBC blu-rays sold in the UK, but not in the US.

        It's Region A only: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Doctor-Who-The-Complete-Sevent…

Regardless, I don't know why you wouldn't buy the superior UK set on Amazon UK for only a few more dollars.

        • Strange that all the previous Doctor Who US blu-rays have been region free.

It is strange, but there you go.

I also heard that the US complete Season 1-7 box set is Region A locked, so it might be a new policy.

        • @star chasm:

Ahh well best to avoid the US release if one doesn't have a region A player. Besides it doesn't even come with the christmas specials.

        • @hollykryten:
Eh? Both sets have the same episodes and the Christmas specials included. It says so in the Amazon description.

        • @star chasm:

I see. It does indeed have the christmas specials after all.

    • I've bought most of my Dr Who blurays from Amazon and they're region free. Never had any frame rate issues.

      • It's not a HUGE issue, no, but I just recommend buying the Region B releases if you can, so you're seeing the episodes as intended (you'll find at 1080i60, the episodes will actually be quite a few minutes shorter than they should be!). When the prices are nearly the same, it's a no-brainer.

As opposed to the incomplete doctor who Series 7 Blu Ray

    • -2

Yeah that's true. The UK Series 7 set includes the 2011 christmas special and 2012 christmas special but the US set does not. US set is incomplete.

      • Correction. The US set does have the christmas specials. My bad!.

    • You can buy the series separated into Part 1 and Part 2 on Blu-Ray.

Advice not warranted; stick to ren and stimpy space madness,… At least that makes sense.

  • I will never understand the appeal of this show.

    • +3

Well like most things in life you either like them or you don't.
What I can't understand is why you would click on a link to a special for a show that you don't like only to tell us that you don't like it……but hey feel free to also mention anything else that you don't like….I'm sure somebody will like to know.

        I don't like pumpkins.
