    • this note is on every general admission ticket issued.
I have an 11 game general admission ticket and it says that on it aswell.
Have got into every game so far.

      • That's because they're scared to turn away Port fans in case you burn the stadium down!!!

        • At the Portress? Maybe

  • +2

Does the person born overseas have to be with you at the game? i.e. my wife and i are both born overseas.soi can get 4 and she can get 4. But i would prefer to go with 7 of my mates, all 7 born in Aus

  • +4

yay free ticket, i think will pass, i have no interest in AFL or sport in general

  • +2

    About 90% of OzBargain…

  • I can't seem to get one, while the actual ticketmaster website will allow me to log in the AFL ticketmaster portal will not.

Decided to check ticketmaster website itself for the game, interestingly on clicking on an MCG match I was redirected to ticketek.

    • +1

Different venues either use Ticketmaster or Ticketek (Etihad stadium uses Ticketmaster, MCG uses Ticketek and Adelaide Oval uses Ticketek)

  • +1

Got a pair of tickets to watch Collingwood Vs Adelaide Crows @ MCG!! Thanks OP!

  • GREAT DEAL. Port vs Melbourne at Adelaide Oval sold out :(

    • I got 3 tickets, might be able to give u 1 if I can only get 1 mate to come with me

  • looks iike it has expired now

  • +1

Me sun peak beinglish wery ill. Will they take it?

  • +8

Quite a nice offer imho. We are from India and obviously don't follow much footy as you can imagine. Having free tickets so that I can take my 5 year old for a fun evening sounds great and might get him to like the sport and more integrated into the culture

    • +1

They will screw you on the food at the MCG

    • Question, if someone were to say "you're from India so obviously you don't follow the footy much", would that be racist?

      • No, it would just be a silly question… because clearly he follows the cricket!

        • I see what you're doing, but if any whitey were to say that howls of dats racisssst! would rain down.

        • +1

I'm very much a "whitey"! In fact, I'm 1/2 Scottish which makes me even whiter than most other local "whiteys"!! That, and it's winter in Melb!!!

  • +1

Got 2 tix for hawthorn vs sydney swans at the MCG, thanks OP.

  • -2

I like how they used a childhood pic of Brodie Grundy in the link for this deal…

  • Got four tickets to Sydney Vs Hawks at MCG…. but couple of things don't sound right?

    1) All MCG tickets are sold through ticketek, not ticketmaster (http://www.mcg.org.au/Events/Tickets.aspx)
    2) Why is the entry based on capacity, rather than issued tickets.

    Is it really legit?

    • +1

      I'm wondering this as well…

    • Was thinking the same thing, also the GA area seems crap.

    • +1

Yeh so the 4 of us rock all kitted out only to be told you can't come even though we have tickets. How does that work?

    • +2

The AFL itself runs its ticketing through Ticketmaster, so that would be why they're not coming out of Ticketek.
The reason it doesn't guarantee entry, is that they don't want to turn away genuine fans because 60,000 tickets have been snapped up by Ozbargainers in Brisbane, just because it was free.

  • YES!!! CHINESE PASSPORTS!!! LUCKY I DIDNT CHANGE

    • You don't need a Chinese passport. Even if they did check your birthplace, they'd accept an Aussie passport with a foreign birth country.

      • +9

        @JohnHowardsEyebrows

What a great username. Love it!

  • +1

um … Does the use of Tongan domain for site seem odd to anyone ?

  • Passport code is invalid!!!!!1

  • +1

Ahhh. Nothing like the AFL still pandering to so called white guilt by giving out free tickets..

    • +2

Perhaps they are trying to "pander" to a different and new demographic, to increase the following of the game.

If the cap fits, you should be comfortable wearing it.

      • And even if it doesn't fit properly, just be thankful that you've got something covering your fn head!!!

  • Trying to order Sydney Vs Hawks at MCG but always says "Invalid Code"! Does it mean it's been sold out?

    • I just refreshed the page and it said" offer has expired"..So yes its been sold out.

      • Still working for me for some games not all games

  • +1

Finally being born overseas is paying off in this country…

    • +6

Never applied for a job with SBS? ;)

      • +5

        I call it the 24/7 War&Sex channel.

    • +1

Or any state public service agency?

    • -2

If you don't love it, leave it.

  • 4 syd vs hawks awesome!

  • 2x essendon 2x hawks…. carn the dons!!!

  • Lol how would anyone know where you were born. This should just be promoted as free tickets to all

  • +1

Thanks. Got some tickets. Even got relos coming at the end of the month so I'm going to Footify them….

  • Wa needs more footy teams!

  • +1

AFL is not my cup of tea. FIFA World Cup is on, baby.

    • +5

Good luck getting free tix for that, baby.

  • +1

    Hi Guys,

I am new to Australia and footy.
I would love to watch a game, Could you guys please suggest a good competitive game to go for in Melbourne.

    TIA

    • +3

Carlton v Kangas at Etihad on the Friday 18th should be a good contest. GO BLUES!!!
Hawks v Swans @ the MCG Sat 26th will be a cracker regardless. Even despite all the recent whinging from Hawks fans about injuries… and now suspensions!
And even Pies v Crows Sunday 27th should be a relatively good game! If you don't mind watching shows like that new Bogun Hunter!

  • Sold out - invalid code for all games, and when page is refreshed, it will come up with a msg saying offer is not available.

    • Just worked for me…must say not the most user friendly experience though

  • Ozbargained

  • +2

Got my 4 tix for doggies V Bombers. Thanks OP

    • Same Here.

  • sif no games in syd :(

  • What is the likelihood we'll get rejected at the gate for a big match such as Hawks v Swans?

    • If you've got a ticket, you've got a ticket!!!
There will only be X amount of tickets available using this code!!!

      • Says subject to capacity. Potential is there, but not likely. The crowd there would unlikely exceed 60k without the freebies. How man Ozbargainers would turn up? It's one thing to hoard shit that you pick up from a store/have delivered to your home, it's quite another to go to a sporting event in the cold winter night.

        • Ticket is a ticket. Like I said, they only release X amount, so it CAN NOT possibly be oversold!!! See glam77's comment here… And likewise my membership card states Entry subject to capacity, which is why we must purchase a paper ticket for guaranteed entry to big matches!

        • You can be turned away at Adelaide Oval.
Before every big match at Adelaide Oval they actually warn general admission ticket holders (like myself) to get there early enough to avoid missing out.
I did hear the figures somewhere previously… something like 3500, or 5500 general admission entries allowed.
The issue arises because they sell 3 game memberships so they have no idea if 2000 or 20 of these ticket holders will turn up, as you do not have to nominate the game.
But Port vs Melbourne…. you will get in.
Other grounds I'm not sure of the how they allocate the tix.

        • @glam77:
Do you have an actual GA paper ticket or just a GA Membership card?
Not sure about Adelaide, but I know in Melbourne once you have a paper ticket (not Membership), you're guaranteed entry. Which is what pisses me off about having a just GA Membership at times. Being a Carlton supporter, (normally) a few of our games are potential sell outs and you must buy a seat to guarantee your entry! You have to use your membership number upon purchase, but it still costs anywhere from $9 upwards depending on the seating category + booking fees!!!

        • @Snoop:
They haven't introduced that into Adelaide yet, but as soon as some fans get 'locked out' of a game guaranteed they'll bring it in. The only game we have to nominate or get another ticket for is the showdown.

        • @Snoop:
I believe that is due to the A/B/C category pricing?
You can upgrade your GA ticket to a daily Silver seat for $5 I think for Port games.

        • @Food:
We'll see how long they hang on to this idea for? Not sure whether it's the different game categories/seating categories or their appauling match scheduling, but attendances are pretty fn ordinary this year!!! 40,000 at the recent Carlton Collingwood game… Being a Sunday night, even I didn't attend!!!

        • @Snoop: I think they're dropping it. The only good attendances are in Adelaide!

  • If anyone has a spare to Port vs Melb…. i could use one.
(Wife was looking to come to a game this year to check out the new oval)

  • -1

the problem is out west of sydney nobody is born locally… they are ALL born O/S.

  • No tickets available for Etihad or MCG..

  • I'm getting an 'Invalid promotion code' message when i put in the promo key :(

  • -4

    rasist

    • do you know what a race is?

    • +4

This promotion is to celebrate the multiculturalism in AFL. There have been many great players who were born overseas but helped the AFL grow. That's not racist, that's acknowledging the fact that those who migrated to this country helped the game grow as well.

      • -2

I thought he said "rapist", referring to Majak Daw…

  • Getting "Invalid Promo Code" for any I entered.

  • +1

Got my free tickets, thanks OP!

  • anyone cant attend the games, please leave the tickets to me. it seems like tickets are sold out

    • which game are you looking to attend, happy to give you my spare ticket if it's collingwood vs adelaide :)

  • Why it always goes to a error 103 page and shows "There are problems with your submission"? does it have to be registered or have to be in particular browser? Tried on newest firefox…

  • For those who missed out the tickets, the tickets are available back again. Get them before they are all gone.

    • -2

Let the marginalisation & divisiveness continue!

  • +1

The idea of affirmative action is to even the TILTED playing field. Of course that means that whoever is the subject of the affirmative action will appear to be getting a leg up. That situation will/should last until not only is there on the surface a change, but that fundamental change is now entrenched. We are still far from that position. The fact people here dont quite grasp the idea of affirmative action is testament to that.

The issue an observant person sees is not that someone is helping them, you should see that the help is needed and what that says about our society.

  • Just get error messages. Invalid promo or problem with your submission.

  • Cheers OP, was planning to pay for my mate and a few others to the swans and hawks game for his birthday, so i've saved aplenty!

  • Sydney Available - Thanks OP

Got 2 x tix to Rd 18: GWS GIANTS v Geelong Cats Sat, 19 Jul 2014
    7:40 PM SPOTLESS Stadium

  • So just to clarify, do you actually have to be born overseas? Do you have to prove it?

  • Can't seem to be able to register account once I have the tickets in the cart? Anyone else have that problem?
Was just trying to get one ticket to the North Vs Carlton game if anyone have one to spare?
    Thanks heaps!!!

    • @Shortee: Did you have any luck getting a ticket?

  • +1

No Adelaide Oval games on the list anymore… :(

  • For the people who are still interested, you can still get the free tickets. I have been periodically trying, and just managed to get into the ticketing page for the Syd v Hawks game and Bulldogs v Essendon game.

  • These free tickets just featured on the AFL footy show. They said there are (a lot) of free tickets available to overseas passport holders or taking people who haven't been to the footy before.
So don't worry about the passport showing guys!
    Go Power

    • Hi food. Jobe Watson actually said that tickets are available also to Australian Passport holders that take people that haven't been to the footy before. Not sure what he exactly meant by that, but you may be right… this is a freebie for everyone and passport may not be required.

      Power are on the slide

      • +1

I had half an ear open but I compared this ticket to a bought and it doesn't differ, and at the gates it would only blip a different light if it was a concession ticket.

        2014 premiers

        • Need to finish top 4 to have a genuine shot

Hard to believe they were 1 game clear on top just 5 weeks ago

        • @tightarse:
          Agreed
