SIM Size Question

Right now, I'm using a real cheap Huawei Ascend Y201 (from an OzB deal), and it takes my good old Vodafone mini SIM, that I've had for a few years now. I'm looking at buying a new phone soon, but noticed that the phones I'm looking at only take micro SIM. I'm not really in the mood to change my number by getting a new SIM, so what are my options?

You don't need to change numbers
just contact your mobile provider / carrier and they will arrange a different size sim.
Some kiosks where you can buy accessories for phones offer CUT down service, but easier to ask for new sim from carrier.

    • Vaya want $20 for a nano sim. Scoundrels.
FTR, the SIM cutters aren't 100% effective. I have seen a sim that didn't work after being cut in a kioask cutter (like a hole puncher).

  • Cut your own microsim using a template from the internet? That's what I did when I switch to a phone with a microsim. I didn't want to pay $20 getting a new sim card. All you need to do is print out the template. Stick your sim card onto the paper using sticky tape, and cut along the lines using a pen knife. Just remember to remove the sticky tape off the contacts when you are done. Took me 15 mins to figure out why it wasn't working after. Haha..

Go to a vodafone shop and they will give you a new sim for free, and even transfer your number on it.

    • This is what you need to do. Its free and its quick

I went to a local Optus store and asked if they could cut mine. Don't even use Optus. Haha.

  • I have walked into Virgin Mobile and AllPhones stores and both have cut for free.

  • Telstra do the same (blank one for free)

  • Dick Smith do it for $5 but didn't charge me anything

  • Alrighty, thanks guys for your suggestions.
I'll go down the Voda store near to me and get that done when I get my new phone.
    Thanks all for your help.
