This is about the cheapest price I could find for high quality sheets without getting odd-sized ones from the UK. I have bought house-brand ones from Myer/Target/etc in the past and whilst they have felt nice, they haven't lasted as long as these Mercer+Reid ones.
Bought 1000tc sheets for my king size when target had one of their usual sales.
Under $80 for a fitted and 2 pillow cases and the same again for a flat and 2 pillow cases.
I don't know a whole lot about linen but these sheets are still going well and they've been on rotation for over a year.
Still very comfortable and have the silky feeling, so for me target is the go and usually have sales all the time. :)
Long story short; 40% off is still a good sale but overpriced to begin with it seems. :)
I agree - Target's 1000tc sheets are good quality and last for years.
I just bought a set of Vue 'Meridian' Sheets from Myer - while only 500tc, they have a sateen finish (not too silky, just soft like the Target 1000tc sheets) and they were 1/2 price at $99.95.
I don't like to pay more that $100/120ish for sheets…

Costco, 1000TC sheet sets, 100% cotton (the selling point for me), only $75 (could be $80, was a big shop). Great quality.
And yet still, just shy of $200 for King Size.
