I read the last one as flannelette spring water. Is it the limited edition Bogan Edition from Tap Springs?

If I do not find any scotch fillet at any store I go to on Wednesday… I'll be flipping some tables.

    Thanks Trent :)

    • I bet the scotch fillet will be the budget cut. It's not gonna be the premium quality ones they normally sell for $22.00/kg.

      • Yep. Premium quality goes for about $38 per kilo. $22 per kilo is the price of the budget scotch.

Is calling Woolworths 'WW' a thing now? ;-)

I thought Volkswagen were having a half price sale at first glance.

after their DG gearbox failing and VW refusing to admit the flaw, i wouldnt buy any VW even at half price.

  • I have rump steak $7.49/kg front page Vic catalogue. Don't see Scotch fillet.

    • Yeah looks like it varies state to state

    • Yep, Victoria getting screwed. Stuff you Woolies, I'm off to Coles.

      • Rump is good for slow cooking, which is great for our weather at the moment. :)

Tis my favourite Greek yoghurt-farmers union! Yay! Time to stock up.

    • Buy a yoghurt maker. Only have to buy one container that way.

      • Got one of those too…still prefer the bought stuff….specially at $3! So far I have only used the Easy-Yo packets tho, I have never just tried it with culture + milk powder. Ill have to give it a shot.

  • 50% off HB beef scotch fillet steak Now $10.99kg-

Not in Sydney, they only have the Porterhouse Steak on special for $10.99kg.

    • Yeah and rump in Vic. Personally I would like sirloin half price

  • What is the difference between budget and premium steak?
Would you be able to tell the difference in blind taste?

Results may vary, but in general you would be able to tell. Usually it's just tough and no marbling and veins of fat instead. Get there early enough and you can just pick the best looking tray, but get there after 8pm and good luck getting a decent piece of market value meat.

budget = old cow, average weight, no special diet

premium = young cow, fat and overweight, fed modified diet. (The equivalent human would be a fat 18yo, does nothing but watches daytime TV, feasting on Special K all day)

  • Generally speaking I dislike Woolworth's meat. It's often tough and is that bright, pale red colour instead of dark red which I've read arises after a treatment to make it last longer. Cole's do a much better job IMO often comparable to a decent butcher's shop.

But if you can handle that yay, Scotch Fillet for dinner!

  • Just a few things I've found at various SA stores in the last few days (that may or may not apply elsewhere):

You cannot rain check any red dot specials.
Stocks on things like meat are incredibly low or non-existent.
Some stores seem to be forgetful on their tags - so you really need to check the item vs the catalogue (found this especially with the cereals).
    Omo - good luck.

Also - don't forget in SA, Foodland has 1/2 price on atm too (as does Coles for some things). I'd rather grab local SAFCOL Tuna from Foodland at half price for 94c than pay 'half price' Woolies tuna at $1.20.
