The normal usual 50% off specials - processed food that isn't really food
and Curtis Stone keeps saying "feed your family for under $10" as if they were a family of dogs.
Mince - $5/kg
Pasta $1.30/kg
Veges (mixed) $3/kgIf you exclude gas/electricity, you have a $10 meal, fit for a dog. Feeds 4 ppl.
Grow your own herbs, buy your vegetables at markets, and sauces in asian suburbs.
Pretty much only buy meat at the supermarket, and you can feed a family of four for 10$.
I knew that Nivea stuff tasted funny.
Finally a comment that makes sense. Every week I look at the 50% off specials and there is hardly anything that I actually buy. I always thought I was the only one so glad to read that there are others that think the same.
Why dont they have 50% of meat, vegetables and fruit as opposed to over packaged over processed, sugary/salty/fatty food?
Fresh specials on Fresh food start Fridays :)
If you want cheap meat, veg & fruit - check out your local butcher & grocer, they'll usually have better regular prices and quality..
my local butchers usually always more expensive than coles and woolworth. Sunday/saturday market (fruits and veggies) is ok.
I'm guessing these is way more margin in selling processed/manufactured food. Also with the 50%+ off "loss leader" specials the cost is actually wore by the suppliers not the supermarkets. So they can "promote" their product.
So yes basically it is suppliers advertising their products.
And baked beans have been their leading "loss leader" for a long time now! To get my attention that will have to sell them at 75% off!!
Hooray for Shapes @ $1.42 again! If you buy around 15 boxes, they should last until they come around again at this price (for 1 person).
Most will probably go stale by then.
Toothpaste only on special cause of all the junk food that will be purchased this week.
Coke $14.75 in SA
97% sugar.
