Scenic mountain biking trails around Australia (Intermediate rider) - Planning ahead for 2014 Summer

Hello fellow MTB enthusiasts of ozBargain, I know it is still early, but I am putting together a biking trip for my 2014 Summer break.

As an intermediate cyclist, having done some basic trails here in Tassie; I am interested to do some riding on the mainland.

Does anyone know of any scenic mountain biking trails around Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide etc.?

Also, accessibility information on getting to the trails/reserves would also be greatly appreciated (how to get there, distance from the CBD areas etc)

    Yeah, but it's a nice park. Not sure if you're allowed to ride to the summit, but you can at least ride some of the way. Then you can say you climbed australias highest hill… err mountain
    
    If you're going to Canberra consider stromlo
    
    Make sure you ride down both black mountain, and mount ainslie. It's a downhill road run, and SO MUCH FUN. Up can be done, but much less fun.

Mt Buller is also really good in the summer for both downhill and cross country, but you'll need a car to get there.
