BEWARE promo codes DO NOT STACK with referrals anymore

You can either get $10 or $25 on signup , NOT Both

  • Surprised Student Edge would partner up with Uber, seeing as their base majority of users are kids? Uber isn't "banned" persey in NSW I guess, though it is a grey area. Not sure how happy parents would be with their kids driving in the cars of strangers.

    • My understanding is that the drivers have to undergo a police check. Either way can't be much worse than cabbies - in Melbourne over 10% of cabbies have been charged with a criminal offence. See: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/law-order/premier-denis-nap…

      • lol

Either way can't be much worse than cabbies.

Well if 10% of cabbies are being charged with criminal offences, don't want to imagine it being any worse than that. Cabbies go through police checks as well I assume?

Yeh idk, don't get me wrong not 100% against Uber at this stage. Don't really have a stance on it atm. Just an interesting move by Student Edge to partner with a company that doesn't really seem to cater towards its demographic, and an area which is in a grey zone of the law and legislation under review by NSW.

perhaps uberx but not uberblack/taxi/lux/suv :)

  • DO they stack with KOGAN $1 pre- purchased code?

  • I have heard that there is an automatic taxi gratuity of 20%. How do I change this to zero? Can't seem to find it anywhere on the app..

Login on the site and you can change it to 0%

      • Thanks.. found it on the website

      It says:

"Your preferred gratuity will be applied to any future TAXI trips that you request through Uber. This will apply to TAXI fares only (not Black, SUV, or uberX) and be paid to your driver."

Pretty sure the taxi feature isn't available in Melbourne anyway, only uberx and uber black.

  • I just got a code from Ozcomicon which is a similar promo. http://puu.sh/9XBNz/138ec32c63.jpg. Code is ozCCMelb.

  • I have to say that there has been quite a few issues with Uber posts on OzBargain. Majority of them are referral codes that got unpublished straight away. Many don't work. It's also in Uber's terms and conditions NOT to reproduce the promotion on other media and Uber can request us to take down posts.

On the other hand Uber has approached us offering exclusive code similar to StudentEdge one here, on the condition that they get exclusive control on what Uber deals get posted on OzBargain. Tough choice for us — do you want bargains, or do you want community?

Between giving them a monopoly on posts or them going all McDonald's on us, I'd rather the latter. Their loss.
