Last time I bought one of these it was cold (not microwaved long enough?). Disgusting.

    • +7

These are new, so I don't think you've ever bought one.

      • +1

Ah my bad, mistook this for the 'rooster roll'.

        • +4

i wholeheartedly agree with your view that the rooster roll is disgusting - i had one recently and the whole thing was soggy and rather tasteless - apart from the awful "mayonnaise" they slathered on it. This just looks like rooster roll with lettuce and tomato (which i bet will be soggy too).

        • +5

Agree. Had one when they were 2 for $8. The bread is so soggy and there was way too much mayo. Less is more people. The 2nd one I saved for the next day and threw it in a sandwich press…much nicer crisped up and heated through.

        • That's ballsy

        • +1

          Rooster Rolls are disgustingly dilicous.

Fun fact, they use the roast chickens that don't sell to make the rolls the next day.

        • @georgedn: Yeah they remind me of the nasty ones you microwave from 7/11…. (Not that I eat those anymore but I admit I may have had the occasional one in my early 20's after MANY drinks…

  • +1

Gee, if only the real rolls looked as good as those in the voucher :)

  • +2

How much $ is this Roast Chicken Roll?

    • -5

      $12…bargain.

Actually I don't know, but it is very relevant to the value of the deal.

      • Is $12 the regular price for a chicken roll ? Kinda high. You can buy a subway footlong with that and get some change.

      • +2

        Gosh that is rather exxy

      • +8

Umm.. Just went to RR to purchase using this voucher.. They charged me $7.30 for the roll.. not $12

        • I hope none of you actually believed Mr Sly

        • +2

I guess they all missed the part where I said "Actually I don't know,…"

        • +2

don't under-estimate the stupidity of the average person.

  • I think I'd go with the the one that has bacon, not the tomato

  • I read: "Buy 1 get 1 Rooster free" LOL

  • Does the voucher need to be printed to redeem?

  • Is this for Red Rooster club members only ?

  • I love these deals since RR is only 5 mins from my place !

    • +1

There's a handy one that was across the road from me in Ashfield. Super convenient. It was a ghost town there though.

  • +7

Honestly guys, pick up 1/2 a barbecued chicken ($10), a few fresh rolls from the bakery and slather it with mayonnaise. Wont be doggy … soggy (phone did it not I) then and much nicer in a crispy oven fresh roll. Too hard hey?! A few mayonnaise sachets, knives and some plastic plates in the car can come in handy. Yes, the wet ones come in handy too or be real mean and pack some wet washers in freezer bags.

If you want to go true OB style you could also carry one of those cheap 6 can eskies with ice blocks in to carry your supermarket special drinks in snd any other condiments (no not dimentia phone). I have saved a small fortune over the years by getting the kids to take their own drinks with them when we go out. Never had a complaint about thay as we have always had money for other things and more excursions that way. When I have been short we even take our own sangers and snacks … so only admission prices. Usually enough cash left for the odd latte for me too …

    • +2

although it is super hard for some (most?) ozbargainers (myself included) to forego a 2-4-1 deal (at least to try the product for the first time) .. even if the saving is clearly nominal or illusory!

      • +1

Just that I have tried the soggy variety myself and you have to admit they are not so very nice. Yes we still try out the new products now and then for the occasional treat. You have to be amazed when people try to feed their families on take away and then complain they have never been able to afford the little excursions we have. I am on a very tight budget but little things like not buying drinks (son quite happy to.prepare his home made cordials in plastic bottles … and carry in a cooler bag) has made all the difference. Haha his friends, that have accompanied us too on occasion (I pay admissions but little else), get quite in on the act too … rather than buy drinks with their own money. Yes, they can survive without sodas after all! I know a family that sits down to the evening meal with a large bottle if coke each day. Poor kids have all had dental problems … mine zero!

        • Nice work swapping soft drink for cordial to avoid all that sugar and the denist bills….umm…I think…

        • +1

Yeah, the only difference between cordial and soft-drink (non Cola) is bubbles, which are completely harmless. Never understood people thinking cordial is a healthier option. Maybe cheaper, but certainly not good for your child.

        • @PainToad: you two are missing the point, it's about cost and value, not dietary ingredients

        • @Tal_Shiar:
How am I missing the point? I clearly said cordial is cheaper. JediJan was getting on her high horse about health, which is ridcolous.

        • @PainToad: high horse about health? from this? >I am on a very tight budget but little things like not buying drinks (son quite happy to.prepare his home made cordials in plastic bottles … and carry in a cooler bag) has made all the difference.

          ….

I do wish they considered the fact that the bread they use is going to be consumed by people.

Red Rooster, KFC and Oporto bread is disgusting.

    • Oporto rolls are pretty good ,I'd enjoy a burger baked like the rolls

    • KFC and Oporto is fine..

But yes red rooster bread is quite bad.

      The burgers are ok.

    • +1

Fun fact, Red Rooster owns Oportos now.

      • Well, hmm, ok.

  • +2

Seems only a sprinkling of reds over Sydney anyway so hardly likely to out of my way.
    http://www.localstore.com.au/stores-search/s/145405/19339/re… >+wouldn't be surprised if $12.

$4.50-5.50.. with my choice of filling - the beauty of 2 min away from (Chinese)-bakery rolls; and I'd rather appreciate fresh ingredients.

  • +3

Ok, just smashed a couple of these nasty ba$tards (one of each) and honestly they were not worth the time and money it took me to obtain and consume the small portions that I did force down my gullet.

I agree with the others that commented prior about the bread and quality of the ingredients, they were deplorable!

I have not had RR in years and this has reminded me why.

The 2-4-1 quantity level up just makes the foulness last longer, not to mention they were constructed as though the preparer (I dare not call him/her a cook or forbid a chef) had Parkinsons and needed a seeing eye dog to get to work! The majority of it was outside the half thawed bun and the only ingredients that were deep inside said "Roast Chicken Roll" was a mountain of lettuce and some mayo. Sub standard at best.

Avoid this deal even though your gluttony is screaming do it.

  • Personally … I would rather spend $20 on fuel to drive through RR and buy the soggy roll than wash up so I have clean dishes and clean up enough space on my kitchen bench to prepare anything. Just sayin'

  • +4

Tried it today. I won't be buying it again.

  • I paid 7.3$ for two big sandwiches today. But wont be back. No taste at all. Couldnt see much chicken inside. No peper, salt or much of sauce. So tasteless.

  • +2

Am I the only one who enjoys a soggy rooster roll?

    • +4

Judging by the number of people in Red Rooster stores, yes.

  • the baguetts are good

  • +2

Haven't been to RR in years, tried it tonight - and confirmed I won't be back again for years.
At 8 bux each, a footlong Subway and drink is 100 times better value - wish I had read these comments beforehand.

I've filed this deal under CS - Chicken S..t

Why are so many people bagging the quality of Red Rooster?

Do the same people actually expect to find Truffled fillet mignon, with a paper cup of Grange, for $3.95 in their Red Rooster bag?!

Most of you peasants should be branded and wearing a cow bell. Unreal!

    • +5

I think most people aren't angry at the quality of the ingredients but more the quality of the prep work that the workers put into making the food. Red rooster just never seems to be made with any care compared to most other fast food brands. Don't get me wrong I still really enjoy RR but I can admit the quality to price point isn't as good as most other fast food joints.

      • This 100%. The Boost lady should come in and revitalize the RR Brand. Salsa's imo has done everything that RR should've already achieved 10 years ago.

Even McDonalds competes with better branded chicken products now.

    • You got +1 me for the funny angry cannibalistic rant

  • They won't accept these at Brisbane Airport. They have these for sale but they don't accept any Red Rooster vouchers as they claim they're only a Red Rooster Express, even though it looks identicle to the all the other RRs in food courts.
