  • Good deal. Love my U2913WM too!

  • Nice. Also makes for a pretty cheap Dell 4k monitor. Hmmm, I don't need a monitor though… but that 21:9 is bloody tempting… You're killing me, EOFY!

    • actually i've been stalking the dell outlet and i've seen the 28" 4k screen pop up twice over the last week or so, the first time there were two and this morning just one.

here's the kicker though, it was a refurb but it was a pretty crazy $422!

    • Note that the 4k monitor is only 30hz

      • that's interesting, i just had a closer look and it's actually a tn panel… well the p2815q is anyway.

      • +4

Yeah none of the 4k panels (well, none of the 'cheap' panels) are really that great, beyond the attractive novelty of 4k.

I don't think I can bring myself to pull the trigger on that 21:9, just bought some Lego, a WiiU and new headphones. The monitor is one treat too many I think.

Unless this monitor were to mysteriously fall off and need replacing.

I'll be waiting for this Intel+Samsung partnership offspring. Apparently, to be released before EOY.

  • Bought 2 of them. Thanks.

  • The code still work today?

    • sure does, you enter the code before you commit to buy anyway :)

FYI, I think the "High Colour Gamut" screens require a "High Colour Gamut" graphics adapter plus applications with "High Colour Gamut" support.

Obviously they work with the standard gamut just fine.

    • No, you are referring to 10 bit.

High color gamut does not increase the available colors. But it makes reds look more red, blues look more blue, greens look more green. In other words, higher color saturation. I have definitely noticed it since I upgraded to this monitor. The colors look different.

  • 29" looks to be better value but.. it has only been discounted 10% by Dell :(

Edit: looking around the 29" doesn't seem to that much cheaper, so the 24" is probably better!

  • Great monitor this U2413. I bought it some time back with a Dell monitor arm - great combination.

  • Ah… I posted about this in the main eBay post. I can't wait to get mine.

    • that was you!

hehe, i did a search before posting this and the main thread popped up but your post was hidden in there… somewhere.

it's a good deal and deserves the exposure.

      30min. left!

      • Too right… stop making me think about it. I can't wait to get mine been using a SyncMaster 2253LW for the last 6 years. To think this monitor I am on now cost me $320 as well.

        • +1

not getting one myself, mostly cause i'm cheap :)

i actually grabbed a p2214h from the Dell outlet today for $155 new, replacing an old Dell s2409w.

it's awesome how affordable ips is now.

        • Yeps sure are. I was actually looking to get the Asus PB246 (IIRC) but this cropped up and the warranty is killer and the perfect pixel guarantee as well.

    Good price on these monitors.

Though I still have two 30" from the last time they were on special. Cant seem to go back to anything smaller.

  • I bought this last week on the 15% off sale (damn I hate myself).

For others who own the monitor, could you PLEASE try plugging in either headphones or speakers to the 3.5mm audio out jack and tell me if you get hissing, crackling, or poor sounding audio? This is what I get, and I want to know if this is normal with all these models (disappointing for such a high end monitor), or if I have a defective unit. PQ is fine.

I have tried it with a combination of inputs, DP, mini DP, HDMI, with my PC and different consoles. I have also tried outputs to speakers and several different pairs of headphones. They all have this problem. And I know it's not my devices or cables causing it. It's the monitor.

I would really appreciate an answer to this. I phoned Dell and was told no one's ever called them with this problem before. But it could be no one uses the audio out…

    • Where is the Audio In coming from?

      • A range of sources.. my PC (via graphics card), Wii U, PS4. Tried HDMI and DP.

For the output I have tried several different pairs of headphones, and my speakers (I got a good system).

        Have you tried it?

        • i would say that it's faulty, if the function is important to you then use your warranty and get a new one.

          i don't have a u2413, but i am using a s2409w with my wii u.
it did have crackling/cutting audio at the start but it turned out to be a bad 3.5mm cable. it worked fine with a new one but it had a stupid 'function' where it faded out the audio when there was no source, super annoying because the sound would disappear for a few seconds every track in mario kart 8. right now i am using some old wii cables to connect my wii u to my speakers directly.

        • Have you tried it with headphones?

        • nope, no reason to since the speakers work.

if you have ruled out the source, the cables and speakers/headphones then really the only culprit can be the monitor.

if you want a definite answer from an actual owner, then i suggest making a forum topic or something. not many people will click on an expired deal and it will be days before anyone receives their order.

  • 9 days now and I am still waiting for my order dell ebay store. only shows "order received" and nothing more on their website.
Never reply mail and have to called them. What a service.
    neg from me for sure

  • Anyone's monitor passed "Order Received" on Dell's order status page?

    • Mine is shipped.

  • My eta is tomorrow.

    • Well I haven't got it yet, and the tracking code is useless so I have no idea when I'm going to get it.

  • My orders were showing 7/7. But when i called them today, they told me it will be 14/7

    • Must be slow delivery… and the tracking code is useless. I don't think I will be getting mine on Tuesday then.

      • I figured out the tracking systems, you need to get the two numbers from the ebay tracking link and enter it into dells own order tracking system. On the web my eta is 9/07/2014. Link is https://www.dell.com/support/orderstatus/au/en/audhs1

        • Nice one :)

Wish it would say where it was in the world though.

        • Which two numbers would they be?

        • @lostn:

The order number and customer number.

  • I got my orders yesterday

  • My unit has some discoloration in the bottom left corner of the screen. You can only notice it with a white background. It looks a little bit blue.

Can anyone check if their corners are like that also?

    • Will do when I get mine.

      Possible to take a screenshot?

    • Mine has a slight bluish hue (very very small) when I looking at the screen dead center but that because I am looking at the corner at an angle, screen is quite large coming from a 21.5". When I am front on to it no colour shift it is white.

Using this as my white background with Chrome on full screen:

      • As I said in PM, ask Dell for a replacement.

        They were quick for me.

However, I asked them if it was new, and they said yes it will be a new unit. But I suspect the unit might have been a refurb. I see some finger print smudges on the stand, and light scratches. Also the Dell circle logo on the back has the plastic that was covering it removed. It was in tact on my original monitor.

I otherwise couldn't tell if it was refurb. The box seal was in tact. It came with extra security tape over the box, even though it already had security tape, but I checked and saw that the original tape was not cut. Everything was packed professionally. The cables were sealed in their plastic. Though I guess it's easy to replace these things or repackage them. I should point out though that the replacement unit's power cable was not an AU cable like the original was. I will return this cable with the monitor I'm returning and keep the old cable.

Anyway, I have to say that it was a bit expensive for what I got, especially since the sound is not useable.

I did not get it for the price of this deal since I got it a week earlier.

        • How big was the discoloration. I don't think mine has an issue as when looked at front on the discoloration dissapears I think mine is just the issue with viewing angle movements. But let me know so I can make another assessment.

          Thanks.

        • @jlogic: About 3% of the screen. Like yours, it does diminish somewhat when viewed side on. More noticible when looked at from center. However, I don't see this on any other corner.

        • @lostn:

I shall have another look again tonight but your right it is not on any other corner. Also is your a revision A00 build date May 2014?

        • @jlogic:

I have a similar effect on the bottom left. You can turn on Uniformity Compensation mode and it looks better but you are stuck on 50 brightness. How to check the revision of the monitor?

          edit: my revision is A00

        • @jlogic: It is A00. Don't know the date. I don't know of any other revision.

I tried to install the Dell software off the CD and it tells me I don't have a compatible monitor. LOL.

        • @lostn:

My computer detected it correctly. Installed all good as well. What are you running? I am using Windows 7 with a AMD HD7850 using DVI though.

        • @jlogic: Windows 7 x64. Using GTX670 via Mini DisplayPort.

My computer detected it fine. But there is some monitor management software included in the CD which I tried to install to see what else it can do for me. It didn't recognize a monitor compatible with the software, which is kind of dumb because it was included with the monitor.

  • How do people configure this? So far I have just turned the brightness down to 25% and in colour management changed to adobe RGB, is there anything else i should be doing if i don't have a calibrator.

    • Yeps don't install any of the software other than the driver and just use the calibrated colour modes Adobe RGB or sRGB.

      • Is there a way to stop the power led from blinking when it's on standby? Might be annoying when I go to sleep!

    • The monitor comes pre-calibrated from the factory. You should have a sheet with the results.

      • I realised I had only set a adobeRGB1998.icc profile in the windows control panel, but didn't change it on the monitor itself. Had to go presetmodes -> colour space -> Adobe RGB. Now I think its set I hope. I have no idea what the icc profile does / what the difference between Adobe RGB and sRGB so I hope it's right.

  • Every now and then (I've noticed this 3 times) the screen goes black for a second and then turns back on with the dvi icon on the top left, as though it is waking up from sleep. Would this be due to my graphics card, windows or the monitor?
