I'm interested in having this installed in my 08 aurion. Do you install it?
How much to have the gps installed, or gps +camera.

    • +1

AURION is not on their ”suitable list"

      • thanks, and I just had a read on their website that they are an online only business.

    • check the other model on the site that fits in your Aurion. Model is TC308 I think.

Should probably edit the description to Standard Definition.

  • oh damn, i think i'll have to get one of these for my wife's 06 rav 4… looks like it'll fit

  • anyone know how much is the installation in brisbane area?

    • +4

Hi Demere. If you can use a screwdriver you can install one of these. Seriously, the hardest part is knowing where to pry the dress panels off the dash to access to bolts that hold the original unit in place! The new unit will just plug into the original plugs and screw back in place of the original unit then you just clip the trimming back on and that's it! No soldering or wire-cutting or anything required.

I can understand if you're still a bit freaked out but if you have a glimmer of DIY in your eye then this is an awesome simple yet rewarding project for you. Here's a vid on YouTube that shows you how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXmcOjXKzmY and most cars are similar to this but of course not all cars will be. I replaced the head units in my parents cars… the Ford Ute took literally 10 minutes (as per a Toyota) but a 2004 Honda Civic took hours as I had to pull the whole dash apart :(

How about the reversing camera? Hard to install?

        • +1

Annoyingly time consuming but not difficult at all.

On the passenger side of the car just unclip/unscrew the plastic step trim across the bottom of the door openings and tuck the wire down between the carpet then clip/screw the trim back in place. Feed the wire under the carpet or around the passenger foot well up to the back of the head unit. Carpet is a great way of hiding & protecting cables :) The hardest bit I've found is deciding where to screw the camera onto and that depends on the size/shape of the camera itself and the design of the rear of your car! Sometimes you can be lucky, if the camera is small enough you can screw it up into the plastic near the number plate lights or near the hatch handle so if you ever had to remove it at least you wouldn't have to deal with visible holes or even worse holes in the metal bodywork. If you're really lucky and the camera is teeny-tiny then it should be light enough to stay on with good quality double-sided tape alone.

You also need to give the head unit a trigger to let it know when you're reversing. Depending on the design of the camera and/or head unit that's as easy as tapping off a wire that's active when the reverse lights are on either from the lights themselves then running a wire to the head unit OR from that same wire found under the dash or from the fuse box. All depends on the car, the camera and the head unit so difficult to answer here sorry.

Again, none of this is rocket science and any idiot can do simple swaps & installs BUT it can be time consuming and frustrating and up to the individual if they could be bothered or if they just pay someone to do it for them. Different story if you're planning to install multiple SubWoofers and Amps etc. as you then need a basic understanding of 12V power systems but that in itself is pretty basic stuff and can be self learnt by learning a few absolute safety basics and then just going for it.

  • anyone in Sydney try LS Audio in Hurtsville for a really cheap install. I have had my sub and amp installed including supplies for $150 here few years back (when they were still in Lekemba), honest people and good advice.

You should be able to do it yourself(its not that hard)

  • Interesting! How would I get this installed? I have an 05 Corolla.

    • If you have never done it before i would suggest an installer :) from experience its easy to break things when trying to figure out how to open panels! hehehehe

    • this will fit in your car without any problem.

  • +1

Installation cost is around $100. Any automobile electrician will be able to simply plug this in your car. It comes with all ISO cables. DIY is very simple. Just remove the existing radio and plug this in.

Not sure how easy the camera will be to install.

  • Amazing how fast technology moves… Hi-def 800x480 LOL "Advance Dual Core ARM 11 processor with 500MHz + 200MHz"

Title appears to be a little misleading or I am mistaken but it is looking like it is aftermarket unit suitable for a Toyota rather than a Toyota unit

its just some cheap ebay headunit, not oem

  • Ebay has plenty of these head units. The seller is selling the unit on ebay for $309 without the camera + free shipping. The camera is $39 on their website.

I bought a similar one years ago from a local seller. I would suggest you buy locally because if something goes wrong it doesn't have to be sent back to china.

My unit hasn't had a problem, and I run iGO Navigation software.

It isn't perfect, but it does more than enough for the price when compared to other big name brands.

    • The head unit on Toyota is easy as there is 1 screw under the middle knob (fan speed control) which removes the dash.

I'm not sure on how you would install the reversing camera though. Did you do this as well?

      • See my lengthy comment above regarding the Reverse Camera installation. Pretty simple really, just time consuming.

  • 08 aurion use Camry one plug and play. we are car accessories supplier in Melbourne, if anybody interested to get more info, plz msg below.

  • Does this fit 2011 Kluger?

  • Will this work with the steering wheel audio control buttons in Toyota Rav4?

    • +1

Looks like it does. Scroll down to the wiring diagram 3/4 down the page. It has a couple of pins dedicated to the Steering Wheel control so I'd say it' does it natively.

I recently installed a couple of Pioneer DAB+ tuners, one in a Corolla and one in a Suzuki. Both were easy but I had to get $35 adaptors from the UK so the steering wheel controls would work with the Pioneer. They work perfectly but it seems this unit has the smarts built-in for Toyotas so yeah not too shabby!

  • does anyone know how to install the rear camera?

    • +1

If i remember correctly you run cables to the rear, then connect the wires to one of the the reverse lights.

      • Yep, as per my reply above.

  • Make sure you read the specs for the unit…Windows CE6…That alone is a worry.

    • The Wince will be just for the GPS. I installed an Ebay stereo http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-GPS-HD-Car-DVD-Player-Suit… not long ago, sounds better than stock for me and allows me Bluetooth to my phone as well as handsfree etc, well worth it.

Not sure where the deal is on this 'bargain' though, fairly standard price.

    • Its not really a worry, like caleb says wince only runs the gps program, all other components are run separately. I know people can mod it to add more features to wince but igo, garmin, and other gps apps run fine on wince6.

      • I was hoping to run TomTom on my wince6 unit….but couldn't :-(

if anyone has successfully run TomTom with wince6 unit, please share your experience? thanks! :-)

  • fit a 2013 toyota gt86?

  • does it fit a 2002 corolla?

  • HAHAHA i ordered this last thursday and it arrived today ! =DD

They don't pack it very nicely before shipping though =( they just put mine in a post plastic mail bag and it had scratches and dents all over the box.

looking forward to try installing it into my Hiace this weekend.

    • What do you think?

  • here is another option which may suit some people
