I'm assuming this is from the 20% sale running at the moment. But I just noticed that the 3D edition with the bonus minifig is currently the same price as the standard 2D release which is the barebones release you'll find everywhere else.

This deal is cheaper than the US version which has a DVD copy also but once you factor in shipping etc you're much better off getting from JB. - http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-LEGO-Movie-3D-Blu-ray/1002…

I'm assuming you can walk into a store and pre-order in person thus saving the .99 cents shipping.

      Yep! Even if you don't care for 3D you still get a sweet minifig and the 2D version :)

    But the movie made my head hurt even worse than that song did! I appreciate they did it to make the figures seem more life like but the almost stop animation style they went for seriously grated on me. My kids loved the damn thing though. Still $30 for a BRD, is this 2010?

      3D BR always attracts a premium price. Half the reason 3D has failed to take off I think.

      The producer said during an interview that they tried a heap of animation styles, but none really felt right except what they ended with. Personally, I like the style, suits it.

    I feel like this is just the general pre-order price, unless something has changed in JB's sales conditions which generally excludes pre-orders.

        $29.98 is not $34.98 - 20%, hence why I think it's just a pre-release price drop. It's great to see!

      It was $34.98 when I preordered on 25 June. Sanity seemed to be the only other place selling the 3D limited edition, and they appear to be out of stock.

      Big W have advertised the 2D Bluray for $25.

    This is how to combat piracy. Free minifig with every movie/tv show dvd purchase. Can u imagine Breaking Bad dvd sales if you got a lego Walter White?
