MacBook Pro 13" Retina 128GB 4GB (Late-2013) $1269 @ DWI

70

Missed out on the DS, MacBook Air deal on the weekend, but got the email from DWI. That's just over 20% off the AUS RRP ($1599). Being DWI, it should be a gray import and ineligible for TRS, although I assume macbook's warranty is international.

I recall some ozbargainers apparently had some bad experience with DWI but I never had a problem with the few purchases I made in the last couple of years.

Plus Import Duty and Taxes if they send it from OS

If your imported goods arrive in Australia by air cargo, sea cargo or by post and their value is above A$1000, in most cases, you will be required to make an Import Declaration and pay the calculated duty and taxes.

    From the DWI T&C's

    .18. Customs

When ordering goods from Digital World International, overseas deliveries may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the package reaches the specified destination. Any additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you, unless otherwise stated in the order confirmation.

    • I bought a Canon EOS 6D from them last year. No import duty applied (I did double-confirmed with them before paying). My assumption is that these companies (DWI, eGlobal, cameraparadise, etc) have their way to "redirect" their stocks. Legal or not it's their problem.

Legal or not it's their problem.

Read their T&C's… It's your problem if you get caught…

If they've imported to their warehouse and paid the duty, that is a different story, but if they are shipping directly to you from OS, then you are the one that will get stuck with the bill if you get caught.

  • Also be aware that according to the macrumors buyer's guide an upgrade to the retina mac book pro line is about to happen very soon.

    • probably a minor update like the recent MBA. Broadwell CPU's nowhere near ready. They don't have much to upgrade imo

      • probably a minor update like the recent MBA.

you won't know either way until it's announced…

        • hence probably / imo

        • No Broadwell CPU until first quarter 2015 confirmed by Intel. Therefore no rehash macbook pro until maybe middle 2015.

It will only have minor CPU upgrade if they do rehash it.

        • Pretty sure the Intel CEO confirmed 2014 release date recently and said it will be on the shelves for the holiday sseason. I think they're trying to push for an earlier release date though.

  • Will it blend?

4Gb ram (not big enough, not upgradable), 128gb ssd (upgradable but expensive) and screen resolution issue when using Windows OS make no buy.

  • So is this a good deal? seems a good price to me, but I never buy anything at DWI
