Hey guys, the wife is after something to help her with the books. Recommendations for a free spreadsheet program and also for a accounting program please. She's used to doing these things manually but is interested in what an accounting program might offer. Thanks.

when you say 'spreadsheet program' are you actually asking for a pre-compiled xls file that can be used for book-keeping? as opposed to the spreadsheet software (ie LibreOffice)
Myob, Xero & Reckon(formerly Quicken) all have trial software (30 days I think)
Take a look at cashbook complete if you use cash accounting, rather than accrual. It is Aussie, and has a free full version to try out. It isn't too expensive if you end up needing the more advanced options too.
Libreoffice for spreadsheet. Search for it. It's an office app suite.
